Ecuador: Enough UK guarantees for Assange to leave embassy

Source: Associated Press

QUITO, Ecuador (AP) — Ecuador’s president says Britain has provided sufficient guarantees for Julian Assange to leave his government’s embassy in London, where the WikiLeaks founder has been living under asylum since 2012.

Lenin Moreno said in a radio interview Thursday said his government had received written assurances from the U.K. government not to extradite the Australian activist to any country where he would face the death penalty.

Moreno didn’t say he would force Assange out, but said Assange’s legal team is considering its next steps.

Assange has long maintained the he faces charges under seal in the U.S for revealing highly sensitive government information on his website.

or the cook. I would have worked in the gardens and made myself useful. Everyday.

I would have been so grateful to be sheltered that I would have traded any skills I had to say thank you.

And I sure wouldn't have been accused of not cleaning out the cat litter.

There's something wrong with that man - he didn't get it. But I guess he will.........

to walk the streets of London?

Wonder what device the Russians will use to inflict death. Shaving cream, toothpaste, mouth wash...

or just a simple prick of a needle while he is entering or exiting a cab?

Maybe someone could start a betting pool.

They want him in person to settle a bunch of old scores. A quick if painful death would be too soon for that.

by using their embassy as a base from which to conduct espionage operations was probably not the best idea, if he wanted to stay there long term. Maybe he didn't figure his little alliance would ever be exposed.
