Trump invokes one of the worst Native American massacres to mock Elizabeth Warren

Source: wash post

By Tim Elfrink January 14 at 5:13 AM

One hundred years after U.S. soldiers killed and maimed hundreds of Sioux men, women and children at the Wounded Knee massacre, Congress formally apologized in 1990 by expressing its “deep regret on behalf of the United States.”

On Sunday night, President Trump used that same massacre as a punchline in his latest broadside against Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), the Democratic presidential hopeful whom he regularly calls “Pocahontas” in jeering reference to her claims of American Indian heritage.

Critics found that message jarring, even from a president who has repeatedly ignored calls from politicians on both sides of the aisle, historians and Native American groups to stop calling Warren “Pocahontas.”

.........................
.............................
Trump’s tweet came amid another extraordinary late-night Twitter barrage as the president — battered by public blame for the ongoing government shutdown and new bombshells about his links to Russia — also lashed out at Post owner Jeffrey P. Bezos and quoted from a racially charged immigration column by Pat Buchanan.

His attack on Warren, who officially jumped into the 2020 presidential race last month, drew perhaps the biggest reaction online thanks to its invocation of a particularly disgraceful chapter of American history.....................................

NOBODY CAN STOP HIS BIGOTRY AND CRUELNESS!! NOBODY

“+300 of my people were massacred at Wounded Knee. Most were women and children,” tweeted Ruth H. Hopkins, a Dakota/Lakota Sioux writer who has contributed at Teen Vogue, the Guardian and elsewhere. “This isn’t funny, it’s cold, callous, and just plain racist.”

Sometimes I wonder if he's actually trying to get himself impeached so he doesn't have to resign and admit to being an abject failure. Surely even Trump has to realize that he can't get elected with only his ever shrinking base. Is he expecting Russia to tip the scales for him again?

What is sadder is: more is coming. Worse than this, and that is hard to believe. Trump will be attacked in ways he has never seen before, because he is in a position that he never imagined.
...As a consequence of his being President, when he attacks like this, because of the last few days, at an innocent person, (Warren), Trump will be verbally attacked publically as he has never been attacked before.

...What I am saying, is more is coming..And it will be worse.

I remember fighting off a gagging reflex when a friend (who voted for trump) looked me squarely in the eye and said “you have to UNDERSTAND the people who voted for trump!” I think she believed these were all poor downtrodden allegedly “forgotten” Americans.

Well I DID understand. From everything I initially suspected, then read about and heard discussed, I definitely DID understand them. They were - to an unfortunately large extent - people who’d kept this resentment - of that black guy who dared to deny the old white guy his “rightful” place in the Oval Office, and that uppity woman who had the nerve to think she could be President - buried. Because they instinctively knew that wasn’t cool to say out loud or to think or believe.

But then this other guy came along who DID say those things AND MORE, and it was okay! And he made it okay for THEM, TOO, to say that shit out in the open. He made it okay for them to get in full touch with their inner racist and misogynist. They felt free (their FREEDOM-FREEDOM!) to let all those shitty antisocial prejudiced mean-spirited feelings out of the closet. Things their mom would have scolded them for saying out loud. Things their grandma might have told them, like “we don’t say things like that about other people...” or “now, now, now - be NICE” or threaten to “wash your mouth out with soap”.

THAT’S what I think the yowling about their “freedom” has actually come to mean, by now. They finally get to be themselves, let all their demons out of the closet, and “tell it like it IS!” (You’ve undoubtedly heard THAT one, ‘eh?)

And hey, they’ve got a compelling takeaway, too. HE did that and talked like that in public and said those things out loud and HE never got told to keep it to himself. HE never got told to shut up (at least in any meaningful way - like a parent with the power to discipline or modify behavior toward the good would do). In fact, he suffered no downside AT ALL! NO repercussions! NO consequences whatsoever! He got elected President! He got the biggest brass ring there is, to get.

And a lot of ‘em are probably gonna go down with the ship, figuratively speaking. Because of human nature. Because of the instinct to resist accepting blame even when it’s deserved. Just keep in mind what STILL motivates a lot of the MAGAts: NOBODY wants to admit they were wrong. Or worse, that they’ve been HAD.

NOBODY wants to look like a fool.

"If Elizabeth Warren, often referred to by me as Pocahontas, did this commercial from Bighorn or Wounded Knee instead of her kitchen, with her husband dressed in full Indian garb, it would have been a smash!"

statement by President Trump..

explanation.. Trump is making fun of two Native American massacres...Little Bighorn and Wounded Knee..
These places were in late 1800s hundreds of Native Americans were killed. Wounded Knee in particular was awful. Innocent children and women were killed for no reason. For Trump to make fun of these events is sickening.

Native Americans killed
Wounded Knee Massacre : 90 men killed
200 women and children killed[3][4]
51 wounded (7 fatally

Here is a link to the Massacre at Wounded Knee...warning very hard to read..

So instead of stopping, he increases it.

..Another idea, this is a reaction to his being called a "Russian Asset" and a "tool of Putin". So he goes off on someone who has nothing to do with it, in a vicious way. Just like being called, "Russian Asset"

...Warren who has absolutely nothing do with this recent "Putin" thing. He attacks her after he has been attacked...I think that is what this is all about. Attacking someone for a connection, after he has been attacked for his connection...(and of course, Warren is running against Trump)

"Every Cheyenne woman routinely carried a sewing awl in a leather sheath decorated with beads or porcupine quills. The awl was used daily, for sewing clothing or lodge covers, and perhaps most frequently for keeping moccasins in repair. Now the southern Cheyenne women took their awls and pushed them deep into the ears of the man they believed to be Custer. He had not listened to Stone Forehead, they said. He had broken his promise not to fight the Cheyenne anymore. Now, they said, his hearing would be improved."

This book is about massacres and Killing of Native Americans throughout U.S.History. It is as bad as it gets, and worse. Read this book if you can.. You will indeed get sick as you read through it.

Trump joking about Wounded Knee is the equivalent to him joking about Nazi concentration camps. Millions of Native Americans were slaughtered as the U.S. expanded west. Also, and of course, their land was taken from them and the way they had survived was destroyed.
