Trump: 'I never worked for Russia'
Source: CNN
President Donald Trump said definitively on Monday he never worked for Russia after offering a non-denial when questioned over the weekend about an FBI investigation into whether he was working with Moscow.
"I never worked for Russia, and you know that answer better than anybody," Trump said on the South Lawn.
"It's a whole big fat hoax. It's just a hoax," Trump said of the FBI's Russia investigation.
...snip...
"The people doing that investigation were people that have been caught that are known scoundrels," he said. "I guess you could say they're dirty cops."
He used familiar attack lines against Lisa Page, Peter Strzok, Andrew McCabe and James Comey, and said the FBI had experienced a turnaround after those officials' departures.

(5,914 posts)In his pea brain, he and Putin are partners. He is working WITH him.
So as far as he's concerned, he's telling the truth.

(9,888 posts)Yep. Trump works for no one but Trump. He has no reason to knowingly work "for" Russia, which he doesn't care about any more or less than he cares about the US. He might work with Putin to put together some kind of self-serving plan. Although, frankly, if Putin is the slick operator I've read he is, I doubt if he'd put much faith in Trump carrying out part of any plan. More, he's using Trump's unwittingness to his own ends. Isn't there some kind of martial art where you use the other person's weight against them? Putin is using Trump's lack of nuance and real world experience against him for whatever purpose.
Lock him up.

(10,749 posts)Sheesh. Does he really think that anyone believes anything he says?
First, he lies.
Second, in his mind he works for no one. He works for and cares only for himself. So in his mind, and in his mind only, his statement is true.
In what we call the reality-based universe, he is lying.
And if there's any justice or karma, he will come up against that reality in many, many courtrooms, along with all of his family members.

Can't because there are numerous cases with actual testimony already entered into evidence on others who conspired along w/ you too and did get caught. A lot of them got caught LYING just like you are doing now.

(27,808 posts)I saw a good explanation the other day of what an asset is versus an agent. Trump is most definitely an asset. I think that he deliberately stated it the way he did because technically (unusual as it may seem), it's the truth.
He could not in all good conscience - if he had a conscience - state that he wasn't a Russian asset.
