WARSAW Vice President Pence on Thursday launched a combative broadside against some of Americas closest allies, calling on European countries to withdraw from the nuclear deal with Iran and accusing them of attempting to break U.S. sanctions against that vile regime in Tehran.
Officials from Britain, France and Germany all countries that negotiated and signed the 2015 landmark agreement that President Trump withdrew from last year were in the audience as Pence accused them of essentially joining sides with Americas enemy.
Pence threatened to impose more U.S. sanctions against Iran and praised countries that are moving to reduce their oil imports from the country to zero.
But sadly, some of our leading European partners have not been nearly as cooperative, Pence said in Warsaw at a Middle East conference conceived by the Trump administration as a way to pressure Iran.

(3,131 posts)The problem with unilateral sanctions was always that it was possible to get around t hem by going through other countries. Dick Cheney among other Americans used that loophole.
Unilaterally withdrawing from the deal was an amateur blunder. No amount of posturing will help. In my opinion, the big danger right now is that we would take unilateral military action.

(3,131 posts)I'm trying to say that the Obama administration got the best multi-lateral deal possible. Thought it was clear in context but apparently not? That was long for a subject. Would that have been better or do you have a different problem?
Btw, I don't mind criticisms of what I say or how i say it. I'm not a writer and English/writing classes were a long time ago.

(7,142 posts)there are no reasons to sanction them. As a matter of fact Iran is suing the U.S. for illegally imposing sanctions on them.

(15,369 posts)like Pence and Bolton urge them to follow Trump will have exactly the opposite effect on Europeans.
Pence is just upset that the Europeans are making their own deals with Iran ... and will continue to do so. Trump's pullout is not based on anything other than a temper tantrum, egged on by John Bolton, himself a war criminal.
