CVS Pharmacy Will Begin Selling CBD Products in Stores Across 8 States
Source: Fortune
CVS Pharmacy is jumping on the CBD bandwagon.
The company said in a statement to CNBC on Wednesday that its now selling cannabidiol (CBD) products at locations across eight states, including Alabama, California, Colorado, and Maryland, among others. The company is selling everything from lotions to sprays and said that its only working with CBD companies that are complying with applicable laws and that meet CVSs high standards for quality.
CBD is most commonly found in hemp and marijuana. CBD is the legal component in marijuana that can have several health benefits, like reducing inflammation, helping with stress, and more. Tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, is the component that gives people the high in marijuana. Its also the component that makes marijuana federally illegal. Medical marijuana or recreational marijuana are legal in dozens of states across the U.S.
CBD has quickly become a hot product for people seeking relief for a host of health issues. And since its legal, retailers are flocking to carry CBD products in their stores.

(51,554 posts)They have been making a fortune selling CBD products. Oh well, I doubt CVS will have the same variety of potions and solves. My vitamin shop even sells CBD for pets.

(28,793 posts)based on the dosage it's cheaper than prozac. and it's a naturally occurring product - i never liked giving her prozac.

(989 posts)Pain management for my arthritis that is miraculous! Plus I sleep better than I have in many, many years...probably also pain related. And my right-hand woman at the office says it has helped my mood!
The only thing it hasn't helped with is my daily angst when I remember Donald Trump is President!

(9,651 posts)I have very painful arthritis, and I am on a biologic, but it wreaks havoc with my immune system. Every germ that passes by me, somehow attaches to me and I catch everything that is going around. I am constantly sick, and if I could find something to help manage the pain, I could ease off on the Enbrel a bit.

(989 posts)I really like this salve from Blue Ridge Hemp Co. It helps with the inflammation and swelling. I apply it in the morning and at night, and I have a roll-on in my purse.

I have tried several oral tinctures--and you really have to experiment because there is no standard for the amount of CBD per dose. Most of them use an eye dropper that is inaccurate and messy and some of them taste terrible! They offer flavors that I have found either too strong or barely perceptible. I really had success with Charlotte's Web CBD Oil...but their maximum strength is really expensive--and I found myself spending about $200 per month to get the pain relief I needed.

Now I am making my own CBD candies. I buy a CBD Isolate (powder) and mix it with Coconut Oil. Then I mix the CBD infused coconut oil with different flavors and pour it into molds. This method loses the terpenes which they say gives more theraputic effects.
I tried a vape and that was a great immediate delivery of pain relief, but it made me cough a lot. Recently CBD "flower" or bud has become available but they're all being marketed for different moods, so I don't know what they will do for pain.
I started with the salve and I stopped taking my pain meds in the first month.

(9,651 posts)I am going to start researching right away. As I have read from others in the same thread, I am also having trouble sleeping. I cannot find a position that is comfortable anymore because every joint in my body is on fire with pain.
And I don't do well with traditional meds, there are no pain medications out there that really help me. So this is a wonderful place to start and you have given me a lot of resources. I am very grateful!

(20,188 posts)She has been on SSDI for 10 years. While she isn't well enough to return to work full time, she is well enough to take care of her home and up until recently, raise foster kids! At 62, she's decided they are done with that part of their life, but they fistered several boys over the years. I don't think she takes a biologic either. Just CBD and Aleve (occassionally).

(20,869 posts)She is fortunate to have you as a friend.
So many disabled people get dumped by society as a whole when they have a DX that may require the need for help.
I'm not into these infusions/injections, etc. that alter the immune system. Some of them cause a brain disease which is fatal.
The cost can be well over $15,000K per month.
Such insanity! No thanks!!
I wonder how safe it is to send highly personal info. to this place to qualify for the discount?
The balms are pricey but help.
Thank you again.

(20,188 posts)Hers was much worse. Her hands were just twisted and on bad days she was in a wheelchair. The biologic just made her get sick, so they put her on Oxycontin. Then one morning she just didn't wake up. Accidental overdoses are so easy. RIP Susie.

(410 posts)they are about 1/2 the price of what I get from a reputable supplier [cbdistillery]
It 1/2 the potentency and 1/2 the price.
Mine is 33mg/ml 1oz is $70

(20,188 posts)Just start out with a few drops, 5 or so (not dropper-fuls) and work up til it's effective. It's more cost effective to get the higher strength. The big bottle (2 oz) is $110 for 3000 mg CBD. The smaller bottle is $32 for 750 mg. It would take 4 of those bottles ($128) to equal one big bottle. Of course, if you are eligible for the discount, the big bottle will only cost $44. She also likes the unflavored CBD coconut oil.

(31,234 posts)much anymore. I thought they'd give me a shot of steroids so I could get back to semi normal, but so far the M.D. hasn't recommended that. I'm in agony.

(7,384 posts)Plus, it calms my nervous system down. Great stuff, but expensive for the good stuff.
There are three methods of plant extraction, Co2 being the best. I think though it all depends on what you use it for.
There are different mg dosages as well. It is a bit confusing. My library had some good books on it, which helped me decide.

Even laetrile is still for sale! Still claims to be a cure for cancer!
