Trump blasts Pelosi for defending 'out of control' Omar
Source: The Hill
President Trump on Monday chastised Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) for defending Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), saying the Minnesota Democrat is "out of control."
Before Nancy, who has lost all control of Congress and is getting nothing done, decides to defend her leader, Rep. Omar, she should look at the anti-Semitic, anti-Israel and ungrateful U.S. HATE statements Omar has made, Trump tweeted.
She is out of control, except for her control of Nancy! he added.
Trump's remarks come amid growing concerns for Omar's personal safety. He has ratcheted up his criticisms of the freshman lawmaker in recent days, even as Democrats warn that the president's rhetoric could endanger Omar, who is one of the first two Muslim women elected to Congress.

(40,211 posts)I think her previous comments did trade in anti-semitic stereotypes and tropes. She now says that she has come to understand the line between policy criticism and something that crosses over into anti-semitic speech.
This uproar is not about what she says or thinks. This uproar is about the President of The United States retweeting hateful propaganda and making hateful statements that appeal to the fringe of our culture, people who are hateful, unstable, and dangerous.
Trump is so twisted it is hard to determine if he is too ignorant to have this awareness or whether he is doing it on purpose.

(16,785 posts)What she said at the onset was that she opposed the Israeli Government regarding the Paestinians.
..The Israel of today is not the Israel of the Bible. The Israel of today was created in 1947 by Europe for Holocaust survivors who were no longer welcomed after WWII. Jews were being expelled from Eastern Europe because the Soviets did not want them either. Territories were taken away from Palestine to create the state of Israel.
Fast forward to the 6 day war in the Sinai in 1967 when Israel was trying to annex land from Egypt to expand. Since then the Israeli Government has been annexing territories from the Palestinians be it the West Bank and GoLan Heights. Problems have been tense since then. As long as Israel continues to renege, there will continue to be tensions.
Nor is any secret that the US sends tens of Billions in Economic aid to Israel annually that they spend on Universal Health Care, Free Education, legal abortion, andmore. The Y
US has forgiven BILLIONS in loans for military equipment and thus are a Nuclear power.
Rep. Omar did not direct her comments to the people or their religion of Israel, but called on the actions of the Government there.
question everything
(47,479 posts)and... like her, you may want to read a bout history: Israel was not "trying" to annex land. Egypt blockaded the straits of Tiran, - an act of aggression worldwide expect, I suspect in the minds of... never mind.. In addition, Egypt kicked out the U.N. troops stationed on the border.
Israel waited three weeks for the world to do something and when nothing happened, it acted.
Israel specifically warned Jordan's King Hussein to stay out, but he did not, and started shelling Jerusalem so, of course,Israel responded.
And, by the way. After the U.N voted in 1947 to divide the British mandate between a Jewish and an Arab states, Israel accepted, the Arab rejected and attacked Israel. Jordan eventually annexed the West Bank - an act which was recognized by only Pakistan, Iraq and the U.K. But I do not remember you or Omar howling about it.
But, why bother with facts?

(16,785 posts)She is questioning the Government's actions towards the Palestinians by continuing to expand into their agreed upon territories and continue to put Palestinians on smaller and smaller tracts of land in which to build a Nation of their own on.
And Americans need to see the problems of giving blind allegiance to Israel in yet not wanting to give lands back to the Native Palestinians. The Two-State Solution is being swept aside for more expansion, thus creating even more tensions in that region.
I do not have the answers. Which is why we have a Diplomatic Corps that works out these things.

(5,591 posts)Lunatic megalomaniac narcissist criminal punk and his hand picked toady thugs. We have failed at removing his treasonous, wretched administration or stopping a foul, Democracy obliterating Republican Party and Nancy Pelosi is one of a very few strong, fearlessly defiant patriots standing in the path of these vile slugs taking the country down.
That this reeking creature Cretin has never been held accountable for one despicable action or lie in his life is frustrating enough. The fact that he STILL spews filth, systematic destruction of the rule of law and remains unaccountable is historically unbelievable for our nation.
We must guard well the women who are apparently the strongest line of defense we have against this unfathomable stinking ogre and his soulless accomplices. He is scared shitless of them.

I wonder at your wording here. It is true the President and Republicans are still in office. What I question is the implication that we have had any chance to remove them.
In the 2016 election if the results had been different we could have avoided them.
Since then we have not had enough control of the House AND Senate to have any realistic chance of achieving a conviction of the President or his cabinet.
You could argue that we should have somehow done something different in 2018 to win the 18+ seats in the Senate needed to ensure a 2/3rds majority needed for a conviction. But I think that unrealistic.
It has not been a failure by Democrats. That would require that there was an opportunity. There has not been and is not one now. It has simply been the reality we have had to work within.
I am not saying this to pick on you. I just think we, as a party, need to avoid thinking of the continuing existence of the Trump Administration as a failure on our part. That we need to look forward.
Our only remedy is to win in 2020.
