(53,955 posts)Though, I don't know if the theories are coming from French citizens. Thankfully, the anti-Semitism is coming from RW nuts, so we can look forward to it be condemned as bad, instead of ignored or excused.

(1,568 posts)Between stuff like these racist idiots trying to exploit it to spread their racist hate against jews and/or muslims, and those celebrating it because France or "whites" deserve for it to burn because of colonialism, I had to stop reading stuff about it on social media.

The populist political consultant has a new target in his crusade against globalism Pope Francis.
Hes the administrator of the church, and hes also a politician, said Bannon, a former adviser to President Donald Trump. This is the problem. ... Hes constantly putting all the faults in the world on the populist nationalist movement.<snip>

(2,412 posts)I have been quite dismayed at Bannons put downs of a great pope. Who does this little man think he is to criticize Pope Francis? And worse, the news media carries his opinions as if he actually had stature in the world!
We are living in highly charged times, swimming in an atmosphere of hyper reality. So much so that I was deeply afraid that this was an attack on the cathedral from The Right as a false flag event to cause chaos in the world. And I consider myself a rational person!

Not sure if that qualifies as a conspiracy theory

(3,495 posts)but Catholics (who "own" Notre Dame) are not much higher on the racial pecking order for white nationalists then the people they wish to blame. Seems a bit odd for them to suddenly embrace them as one of their own (especially since many despise Pope Francis).

(13,485 posts)in Paris was set on fire exactly one month ago today on March 15th. It was determined to be arson. This is April 15th. Coincidence, accident or arson, I'm sure all of those options are on the table. But blame is stupid at this point. I'm guilty of suggesting a target earlier but I was not thinking clearly. This loss is personally difficult for me. We have to wait.

(53,955 posts)To these people (and several others), behind every great tragedy lies a Jew. For some, anti-Semitism is as much an artform, a medium, as it is hate for the Jew. When we aren't destroying things, we are hypnotizing poor, hapless people to do our bidding, like a puppet on a string, because no one is as powerful as the Jew; or so the story goes.
