Pelosi Shreds Barr Ahead of Mueller Report Presser: He Threw Out His Credibility to 'Protect' Trump
Source: Mediaite
Speaker Nancy Pelosi blasted Attorney General Bill Barr Wednesday ahead of Thursdays expected release of the Mueller report and Barrs press conference.
The current reporting indicates that Barrs press conference will be coming before the Mueller report is released to Congress, and thatper the New York TimesDOJ officials had numerous conversations with White House lawyers about Muellers conclusions.

Pelosi linked to the report tonight as she said Barr has thrown out his credibility in service of protecting POTUS above all else.
AG Barr has thrown out his credibility & the DOJs independence with his single-minded effort to protect @realDonaldTrump above all else. The American people deserve the truth, not a sanitized version of the Mueller Report approved by the Trump Admin. https://t.co/fgXwiLuQfr

(51,284 posts)These facts didnt get much attention during Barrs confirmation hearing, as Congress was hyperfocused on an unsolicited memo Barr wrote prior to his nomination, which criticized the special counsels investigationand whether he would release an unredacted Mueller report to Congress. Much of the information is public, but it has so far been unreported in relation to Barr.
Still, Barrs potential conflicts could face further scrutiny as Democrats in Congress fight to have the Mueller report released to the public.
By the time you read this, the report may indeed be in the hands of Congress. But legal battles are expected over how much of the document will be redacted to protect grand jury material and other information. And no matter what appears in Barrs color-coded version of the report, his motives will continue to be questioned.
All of this raises the need for further inquiry from an independent review, not a Department of Justice investigation, Michael Frisch, ethics counsel for Georgetown Universitys law school and an expert in professional ethics, tells Newsweek . Scott Amey, general counsel at the Project for Government Oversight, says that Barr is probably playing within the rules. But that doesnt mean he shouldnt recuse himself.
