Trump approval drops 3 points to 2019 low after release of Mueller report: Reuters/Ipsos poll

Source: Reuters

NEW YORK (Reuters) - The number of Americans who approve of President Donald Trump dropped by 3 percentage points to the lowest level of the year following the release of a special counsel report detailing Russian interference in the last U.S. presidential election, according to an exclusive Reuters/Ipsos public opinion poll.

The poll, conducted Thursday afternoon to Friday morning, is the first national survey to measure the response from the American public after the U.S. Justice Department released Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s 448-page report that recounted numerous occasions in which Trump may have interfered with the investigation.

According to the poll, 37 percent of adults in the United States approved of Trump’s performance in office, down from 40 percent in a similar poll conducted on April 15 and matching the lowest level of the year. That is also down from 43 percent in a poll conducted shortly after U.S. Attorney General William Barr circulated a summary of the report in March.

...snip...

The poll found that 50 percent of Americans agreed that “Trump or someone from his campaign worked with Russia to influence the 2016 election,” and 58 percent agreed that the president “tried to stop investigations into Russian influence on his administration.” Forty percent said they thought Trump should be impeached, while 42 percent said he should not.

The conventional wisdom around here seems to be that it's an overwhelming majority, but that's clearly not the case.

Not yet, anyway. It's been hovering between 35-40% for a while now, even with Trump's disapproval flirting with 60%.

7. NO, NOT REAGAN..... He colluded with Iran to undermine Jimmy Carters' campaign.

Don't forget that Reagan made a deal with Iran to continue holding our hostages, thereby undermining Jimmy Carters' election chances, while rewarding them by illegally selling them weapons. He pretty much managed to escape any consequences from that, and I'm certain that fact hasn't been lost on Tiny.

He is the reason we are dealing with all of this horrible stuff today.

But, prior to his dementia, I think he was the last Republican president that you or I might reason with.

Like, maybe, if you could go back in time, you could show him your smartwatch and iPhone, and you could show him that you are from the future. You could show him how the Russians defeat us, without even firing a shot. No nuclear warheads involved. The Russians just destroy us in the war of propaganda. No weaponry is necessary.

Reagan and his people might listen to you. They might be so aware and afraid of Soviet propaganda techniques at the time, that they take immediate steps to prevent this future calamity from occurring. Or they might do nothing, because maybe they really want this particular outcome.

I am thinking they always wanted this particular outcome.

I was 20 years old when Reagan was first elected.
Some of us remember what happened next.
Things have only gotten worse since then.

Wait until it sinks in a little and more info come out. Impeachment hearings at the very least will be the majority opinion within a few weeks if not sooner.

I called several Dem congress members offices today and was told by staffers that a lot of people have been calling and they want to start impeachment hearings too.

after Congressional public hearings with Mueller on the stand. Most people don't have time to absorb everything in the Mueller Report. They need a "CliffsNotes" version, and Mueller will provide that when he divulges his intent concerning the report. Be assured, his intent will not mesh with Barr's bullshit.

In 2016 I was so worried we were losing our democracy. The 2018 elections showed people are starting to get the need to vote.
