Secretary of State Mike Pompeo offered a candid assessment of Venezuela’s opposition during a closed-door meeting in New York last week, saying that the opponents of President Nicolás Maduro are highly fractious and that U.S. efforts to keep them together have been more difficult than is publicly known.

He said the difficulty of uniting the opposition has not only played out in “public for these last months, but since the day I became CIA director, this was something that was at the center of what President Trump was trying to do.”

“We were trying to support various religious .?.?. institutions to get the opposition to come together,” he said.

He expressed regret that during a failed April 30 bid to incite a military uprising, competing interests among Maduro’s enemies and rivals prevented the socialist dictator’s swift exit.

2. He is right, there is a lack of patriotism in Venezuela that is hard to belive, let alone to digest

Back when Hugo Chavez was president he brought up a vote that could have taken him out of office, up to that point the opposition had been united, but what happened? All the opposition "leaders" run like cockroaches each their own way because they all wanted to become presidents, what happened? Chavez won the vote easy, and he didn't have to do anything, the opposition did it to itself.

Now, one has to ask. Do they all want to be president to do well, fix the country? And the sad answer is "NO", they all want to rob the country like all other governments have done, they all want a position of power to fulfill a personal agenda, and that agenda is nothing than to become filthy rich from robbing the coffers of the country.

It is a sad truth, but it is the truth nonetheless.

And that is exactly what is developing in the USA with this administration and the republicans having realized their wet dream of having an idiot as president who can handle a pen. There is no patriotism in the USA from the majority of republicans, it is a made up advertising meme. Things are bad all over, USA, Latin America, Europe, but unless the USA cleans up its act, gets rid of the buffoon and all the crooks that surround him, nothing will improve and I fear that those prediction of human kind begin disappearing by 2050, will come true. What a World we are bringing to our kids, how sad it is.
