Speaker Nancy Pelosi told senior Democrats that she’d like to see President Donald Trump “in prison” as she clashed with House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler in a meeting on Tuesday night over whether to launch impeachment proceedings.

Pelosi met with Nadler (D-N.Y.) and several other top Democrats who are aggressively pursuing investigations against the president, according to multiple sources. Nadler and other committee leaders have been embroiled in a behind-the-scenes turf battle for weeks over ownership of the Democrats’ sprawling investigation into Trump.

Nadler pressed Pelosi to allow his committee to launch an impeachment inquiry against Trump — the second such request he’s made in recent weeks only to be rebuffed by the California Democrat and other senior leaders. Pelosi stood firm, reiterating that she isn’t open to the idea of impeaching Trump at this time.

“I don’t want to see him impeached, I want to see him in prison,” Pelosi said, according to multiple Democratic sources familiar with the meeting. Instead of impeachment, Pelosi still prefers to see Trump defeated at the ballot box and then prosecuted for his alleged crimes, according to the sources.

6. What am I missing?

1. He gets impeached
2. He is out of office
3. All the investigations going outside of Washington bring indictments to the buffoon and his family
4. The buffoon and his family are taken to court
5. They go to jail.

I understand this may be simplistic, what I don't understand is Pelosi's argument. She is very wrong on this, if the buffoon does not get impeached he will win a 2nd term, make no mistake about it.

Think about it, Hillary won the popular vote by more than three million, what are the odds that the buffoon won the electoral vote in the key states? the numbers do not add up, it was done through cheating, and this time around it will be worst. All the talk about Facebook, the media being hacked by the Russians and the arguments to convince people to vote for the buffoon are bull, the real cheating occurred inside the voting machines, votes were changed from Hillary to the buffoon, and now they have had four year to perfect their hacking with zero proactive action from anyone in the USA, what do you think is going to happen?

I think we need to write to Pelosi, she is wrong about this, the buffoon must be impeached, the same with Barr and Pence.

about proceeding is between a Judicial Committee chair who apparently feels they have enough to proceed with impeachment and a Speaker for whom impeachment is means to much bigger ends.

For me, and I'm absolutely sure Nancy, everything must lead to victory in the 2020 election. If the increasingly fascistic Republicans keep even the control they have now, including over court appointments, we could lose everything for generations.

Smashing of laws and taking over of judicial systems are standard procedures for fascistic takeovers. Over the next very few years, the beyond-blatant use of the transfer of power through elections to seize the governor's office in Georgia could become SOP as states around the nation fall.

28. NOT an either-or question. Impeachment does not preclude eventual jail time - and this thinking

that impeachment inquiry will necessarily result in loss of 2020 election is flawed.

Could be that public perception of spinelessness would result in loss of election. Could be a wash - could be people staying at home because of impeachment decision (whatever it is) would be offset by more people getting out to vote because of it.

Its just a total UNKNOWN.

Therefore, lets set aside the whole question of how the election would be effected.... since it is an unknown.

Therefore the question becomes - what is the RIGHT thing to do?
