Ginsburg praises Kavanaugh for first all-female team of SCOTUS clerks

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg applauded her colleague Brett Kavanaugh for bringing on an all-female group of law clerks upon his appointment to the U.S. Supreme Court during a speech on Friday at a judicial conference.
The big picture: Ginsburg is revered as a feminist icon while Kavanaugh faced an uphill battle during his confirmation process when multiple women accused him of sexual misconduct. This acknowledgment from RBG could be viewed as a win for Kavanaugh's reputation.

I think there's a method to Kavanaugh's madness.

(35,300 posts)That his staffers were all female was news months ago. At this point, the information qualifies as "olds".

(3,741 posts)If Thomass name sounds familiar, it may be because she is married to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, who has been on the bench for nearly three decades. But Ginni Thomas has long carved out her own place in conservative politics sometimes to the chagrin of those who say her involvement poses a conflict of interest due to her husbands role.

Is there a dress code that only allows for grey, charcoal, or black? Or did they plan to have matching outfits for "picture day?" Or just some freaky coincidence? is the woman on the far right going to get in trouble for her tiny pop of color turquoise necklace?

(1,771 posts)All clerks are paid $93,600 a year. After serving for a typical two years they can expect a salary of $480,000 for their first year in a private firm including the signing bonus which averages $280,000.

(2,957 posts)There's the teeniest air of pragmatism about him. He's old-school conservative and not Nazi conservative like Gorsuch and Kavanaugh. I can almost see him swinging toward the lefties on just a few cases. He may prevent the court going full fascist until we can get a shot at an appointment.
