Man who says Kevin Spacey groped him asserts Fifth Amendment right

NANTUCKET, Mass. (AP) The man who accused Kevin Spacey of groping him at a Massachusetts resort island bar in 2016 asserted his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination and refused to testify after being questioned by the actors lawyer about text messages the defense claims were deleted.
The mans refusal to testify caused the judge to question the viability of the case against the two-time Oscar winner.
The man was ordered to testify after he failed to turn over the phone he used that night to the defense and then said it was lost. Spaceys lawyers say the man deleted messages from his phone that would support Spaceys claims of innocence and then provided investigators with manipulated screenshots of conversations from that night.
Spaceys lawyer urged the judge to dismiss the case, calling it completely compromised.

(16,856 posts)He's probably fine when he isn't drinking. Hopefully he's learned a lesson from all of this.

(4,341 posts)Where did you read that, or do you know him?
Has anyone else said anything about him doing that?
By the way, I am not trying to defend him, I don't know him, I am just curious.

(16,856 posts)people accusing him of groping. This isn't the only case. If I remember correctly, they had one thing in common. They all happened in bars or parties where alcohol was served. I've never heard about him acting up, pardon the pun, in other situations, so I'm making an inference that he was drinking when he did these things, if he in fact did them.
I've known plenty of people who were polite when sober, but who liked to grab ass when they get drunk. It's not the end of the world. I'm not judging anybody, I'm just giving my opinion about what this is really about. I think it's likely that his underlying problem is with alcohol, not that he's a sex-crazed maniac. Of course, I could have the wrong impression about it and could be totally wrong. But that's how this feels to me.
