Todd Akin’s Wife Compares GOP Abandonment to Rape, Tyranny
Source: TPM
Rep. Todd Akins wife, Lulli Akin, says the Republican Partys attempts to push her husband out of the Missouri Senate race over his false assertion that women who are raped rarely get pregnant are like rape itself.
She also believes the GOPs abandonment is on par with the tyranny that launched the American Revolution.

Lulli Akin said that efforts to push her husband out of the race threaten to replace elections by the people and for the people with tyranny, a top-down approach. She added, Party bosses dictating who is allowed to advance through the party and make all the decisionsits just like 1776 in that way.
She cited colonists who rose up and said, Not in my home, you dont come and rape my daughters and my wife. But that is where we are again. There has been a freedom of elections, not tyranny of selections since way back. Why are we going to roll over and let them steamroll us, be it Democrats or Republicans or whomever?

(3,544 posts)What's done is done. Why the GOP tried to take him down was because they want control of the senate, and they know he won't do it, without votes. Even though they really support every word has has already said. The GOP is sick.

(6,241 posts)that he phrased their actual beliefs in a way that was perceived badly. If the rest of the country kind of shrugged their shoulders and kind of agreed, they would have bent over backwards to support the guy. As it was, the country rejected the assertions wholecloth, and made them look bad. They fully agree with what he has to say (check out threads on Akin on Free republic if you don't believe me), but they would rather just pass legislation than have to try to back up their beliefs. Impose the law, but don't give people the chance to reject it.

(37 posts)You husband is a nut case Lulu. And to think as far as your "party" is concerned, he and his retardation is "main stream" it seems. They just don't want others to see how insane you are, and how your ideas make Real Americans sick.
Tell you what. Why don't you go live in your alternate universe, and you and your husband leave us "smart" people, as Santorum puts it alone.
