A Majority of House Democrats Now Back Trump Impeachment Inquiry

Source: Daily Beast

The majority of the House Democratic caucus now supports an impeachment inquiry against President Trump, with Rep. Ted Deutch (D-FL) becoming the 118th Democrat in the chamber to support moving to such proceedings.

“[President Trump] seems to think that Mueller’s performance wasn’t enough to trigger an impeachment inquiry,” the congressman wrote in an op-ed in the South Florida Sun Sentinel. "Sorry, Mr. President, the question is no longer whether the House should vote to proceed with a formal impeachment inquiry. The inquiry has already begun.”

A spokesperson for Deutch confirmed to Politico that he would vote for an impeachment inquiry if such a vote was requested.

Deutch’s announcement is the latest in the slow but steady churn of Democratic representatives coming out in favor of launching the impeachment process, despite House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) resistance to the idea. And it represents both a dark milestone for the president and a new set of complications for House Democratic leadership, which earlier this year argued that they could not begin impeachment proceedings, in part, because the majority of the party did not support doing so.

and the Repugnants by keeping it in the news and they will delay impeaching him until 3 months or so before the election that way the Repugnants will have a difficult choice.
Either impeach Trump for his crimes or defend him and risk the blowback at the polls.

and their reasoning. CNN and The Times are usually not the same number (off by one or two). There were 93 after Mueller's testimony so this is definitely increasing by the day. I think that calling the reps during Aug Recess is pushing more to commit to an inquiry at the least.

Speaker Pelosi probably thought she was safe when she drew the "not unless a majority of House Democrats support an impeachment inquiry" line in the sand. Then the ocean flowed right over it.
