Trump Will Deny Immigrant Visas to Those Who Can't Pay for Health Care

Source: New York Times

WASHINGTON — The Trump administration will deny visas to immigrants who cannot prove they will have health insurance or the ability to pay for medical costs once they become permanent residents of the United States, the White House announced Friday in the latest move by President Trump to undermine legal immigration.

Mr. Trump issued a proclamation, effective Nov. 3, ordering consular officers to bar immigrants seeking to live in the United States unless they “will be covered by approved health insurance” or can prove that they have “the financial resources to pay for reasonably foreseeable medical costs.”

In the proclamation, Mr. Trump justified the move by saying that legal immigrants are far more likely than United States citizens to lack health insurance, making them a burden on hospitals and taxpayers in the United States. “The United States government is making the problem worse by admitting thousands of aliens who have not demonstrated any ability to pay for their health care costs,” he wrote, adding, “immigrants who enter this country should not further saddle our health care system, and subsequently American taxpayers, with higher costs.”

The surprise order is the latest step in a long effort by Stephen Miller, the president’s top immigration adviser, and others in the administration, to limit what they consider the financial burdens of allowing immigrants into the United States.

can't get in their countries. Remember the children they wanted to deport several weeks ago?

This is Steven Miller's work.

IE the demographic LEAST likely to need hugely expensive health care.

If you want to complain about leeches draining the US of insurance money due to crappy health, all those obese, retired, gun-toting Trump voters come readily to mind.

How about all these people you entice or push onto junk insurance plans, and working to destroy comprehensive health insurance like the ACA? Why don't you worry about these people not being able to pay their medical costs? And if it's such a big moral deal to you that people be able to afford their medical costs, why did you get rid of the tax penalty for not having health insurance?

sometime in the future? Or, for that matter, what level of assets are needed to prove they have sufficient "resources to pay for reasonably foreseeable medical costs?" How far into the future do we need to "foresee" needing medical attention? Etc, etc.
Yeah, I foresee upcoming litigation over this vileness.
