Trump Calls Turkey's Syrian Offensive a 'Bad Idea'

Source: New York Times

WASHINGTON — President Trump on Wednesday called a Turkish military operation along the border with Syria “a bad idea” but reiterated his opposition to “endless, senseless wars,” even as leading Republicans expressed outrage and said the Turkish offensive could inflict lasting damage on Washington’s relationship with its NATO ally.

“The United States does not endorse this attack and has made it clear to Turkey that this operation is a bad idea,” Mr. Trump said in a statement released by the White House.

Noting that American soldiers had been moved from the area in advance, Mr. Trump limited his criticism of Turkey and made no mention of punitive action against it.

That was a contrast with the response from Capitol Hill, where Republicans were sharply critical of Turkey’s president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, for following through with a plan he disclosed to Mr. Trump in a Sunday phone call.

13. What would happen on twitter if ANY sort of investigation public or private looked into TT Instanbul

A good way to find Orange corruption is to announce individual investigations into links between his businesses and other countries.

A category 3 or greater tweet storm is a sure sign to maximize a particular investigation to the impeachment level.

16. Friends with Turkish connections have told me more than once

No major real estate deal goes down in Turkey without Erdoğan or a member of his family getting a cut. They are all billionaires now. I'd say there is ample spare change left over to help out Trump with his debts in return for letting Erdoğan murder a few dozen thousand Kurds without so much as a whimper from the USA.

11. Maybe it is a product of Trump's "thinking with his gut", but to me

it looks like a "quid pro quo" again. Trump's towers in Turkey continue to operate without a hiccup and the Turks have Trump's OK to murder the Kurds.

5. One of those days when I feel like his case of losing his mind is contagious

and that I'm catching it.
Seriously?
First he opens a hotel in Turkey.
Then he says we're out of there in Syria.
Then he acts like he's mad at Turkey for doing what they and Putin have wanted to do all along.
Then Republicans in Congress act like they're mad at him.
SO MUCH ACTING!

I want non-fiction. That is all I want.

8. I fear that's a risk Erdoğan is all too happy to take.

Dolt45 just doesn't get how determined Turkey is to stomp the Kurds.
