JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) A fight is brewing over whether Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy should be recalled from office, with his critics saying he's incompetent and has recklessly tried to cut spending while supporters see a politically motivated attempt to undo the last election.
Dunleavy, a Republican, has drawn parallels between himself and President Donald Trump, casting himself as a chief executive trying to implement an agenda of smaller government and resource development while facing attacks from the left.
Trump, the subject of an impeachment inquiry, has defended Dunleavy on Twitter.
A state elections official could decide as early as Monday whether the first serious attempt to recall an Alaska governor since the early 1990s should advance to a second phase of signature-gathering. The decision could be challenged in court.

(4,573 posts)Is there an actual placard on AF1 that says: "Aboard Air Force One"?
I wonder if Donnie J Tangeranus because if they don't have that there, he'd forget where he was?

(4,573 posts)It's still a very odd placard to have, though.
It'd be like having a sign next to my shower saying "In Your Bathroom". Maybe it's just the wording that seems odd to me.
Thanks again!

(2,068 posts)If Trump is 6' 3", then Governor D. must be at least 6' 7". Anyone know for sure? Not that it matters, but that's one tall Governor, and probably why his campaign slogan is "Standing Tall for Alaska".

I'm surprised there isn't a Trump "coat of arms" hanging there on the wall, too.

(43,216 posts)Undo last election is all I hear and see. Recall is a political/legal method of kicking incompetents to the curb. That's just the way it is.

JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) Supporters of an effort to recall Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy are vowing to take their fight to court after an election official on Monday rejected their bid to move forward with seeking to oust him from office.
Division of Elections Director Gail Fenumiai said she based her decision on the legal opinion of Attorney General Kevin Clarkson, a Dunleavy appointee, who found the reasons listed for the recall were factually and legally deficient.
Critics of the Republican governor say he is incompetent and has recklessly tried to cut spending, while his supporters saw a politically motivated attempt to undo the last election.
Among its claims, the pro-recall group said Dunleavy violated the law by not appointing a judge within a required time frame, misused state funds for partisan online ads and mailers, and improperly used his veto authority to attack the judiciary.
Dunleavy cut from the court budget an amount the administration said was commensurate to state funding for abortions. This happened after the Alaska Supreme Court struck down as unconstitutional a state law and regulation seeking to define what constitutes medically necessary abortions for Medicaid funding.

Really funny to see Donald having to look up at someone far taller.
I think it kinda makes one wonder if Trump is really 6'4".
