Pro-Trump Republican aiming to unseat Ilhan Omar charged with felony theft

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by Omaha Steve (a host of the Latest Breaking News forum).

Source: The Guardian

A pro-Trump Republican candidate for Congress who is aiming to unseat Ilhan Omar in Minnesota has been charged with a felony after allegedly stealing from stores.

Danielle Stella was arrested twice this year in Minneapolis suburbs over allegations that she shoplifted items worth more than $2,300 from a Target and goods valued at $40 from a grocery store. She said she denied the allegations.

Stella, a 31-year-old special education teacher, was reported this week to be a supporter of the baseless “QAnon” conspiracy theory about Donald Trump battling a global cabal of elite liberal paedophiles.

This week Stella also described Minneapolis as “the crime capital of our country”. She has in the past complained that local police were “overworked and overburdened” and said that, if elected, she would work to reduce crime.

His signs are just awful and he has like a million out there. (Hubby can't figure out what office he's running for..LOL)
The district has never been at risk for turning red. I don't think he will do very well.

I have no idea why he has so many signs out. It isn't like he has a primary challenge..LOL

…this week, she was permanently banned from Twitter for calling for Rep. Omar to be hanged for treason, a tweet accompanied by a drawing of a stick figure hanging from a noose. In response to being banned, Stella held it up as “proof that Twitter will always side with terrorists and traitors.”

I’d say she’s crazy, but that would just be another example of “if they’re white, they must be mentally-ill.” The fact is, she’s the very embodiment of a Trump voter – a hate-filled racist who believes that her skin color exempts her from the rules other people must follow.

I don't know if she was right about Minneapolis being the crime capital of the country...it's probably fake, and she just pulled it out of the air to support her campaign and thus, claiming it to be fact. I think that the crime capital is actually where she ever she lives, obviously, being that she's a one person crime spree.

Hypocrite.

I also worry about her being a 'special education teacher'...

For someone who subscribes to such baseless beliefs as well as possibly believing in other wacky beliefs (if you believe one nutty belief, you're bound to believe other wacky beliefs too), teaching children seems very worrisome...I'd be concerned about her undue influence on these kids.

Unfortunately, there are many pukes currently in Congress that are wacky. They managed to get elected. Gomert, Blackburn, many others (although some are just putting on a show for the rubes).

It's to be hoped this one is defunct as a candidate, though. Perhaps she thought practicing thievery would endear her to the donor class.

Republican candidate Danielle Stella booted from Seward Community Cafe in Minneapolis
Thursday, August 8, 2019 by Hannah Jones in News

On Tuesday afternoon, Jo, an owner/worker at the collectively owned Seward Community Café in Minneapolis (not to be confused with Seward Co-op), showed up at work after attending a couple of meetings. A talk on border resistance and dismantling immigrant detention centers was in progress.

Basically, Jo says, a “presentation on ICE and how they’re terrible.”

Jo, who prefers not to share their last name for safety reasons, says the talk wasn't unusual for Seward. The café sports some unmistakable progressive overtones. Still, the Facebook event for the talk had been peppered with comments from people suggesting they’d show up at “this gay event” to “knock beta heads” if they had the chance, so Jo was a little wary someone might start something.

Jo was still “dilly-dallying” when a customer said someone was filming the event and making people “uncomfortable.”

“I don’t want members of my community feeling uncomfortable in my business,” Jo says. The woman recording the proceedings was quietly asked to join them out back. Jo explained that customers were complaining about her being disruptive… and a little creepy. The woman was asked to leave. Instead, the woman started filming, insisting that it was her right to do so.
