Trump floats going to the Supreme Court to stop the impeachment

President Donald Trump landed in the U.K. late Monday night and immediately tweeted that hed spent the flight reading all 110 pages of the Republican impeachment report.
Just landed in the United Kingdom, heading to London for NATO meetings tomorrow. Prior to landing I read the Republicans Report on the Impeachment Hoax. Great job! Radical Left has NO CASE. Read the Transcripts. Shouldnt even be allowed. Can we go to Supreme Court to stop? Trump tweeted.
Its unclear what Trump would go to the Supreme Court with, in terms of a charge, as it isnt illegal to impeach a president.
Also, Trump is not generally known as a reader, often refusing to specify what books he was reading during the 2016 campaign. .................................................

(115,683 posts)Article I, clause 5 of the Constitution is very clear about that. Supreme Court can't do a thing about it.

(8,817 posts)I would guess that you wouldn't want to bet on anything Trump does......LOL
The Republican appointed and controlled U.S. Supreme Court???????
The Republican appointed and controlled Department of Justice??????????
The Republican's interpretation of the constitution, or for that matter any Rule of Law......
May I remind you of how the Republicans got the U.S. Supreme Court to interject and decide on the 2000 presidential election, over riding Florida States Laws. No where in the constitution, even remotely, gave them the power to do so.......
The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,683 posts)As such, they aren't going to ignore the plain, unambiguous language of the Constitution.
DENVERPOPS
(8,817 posts)Just like they did with "Citizen's United".
You apparently are an expert in constitutional law, I am not.
At this particular juncture in the entire history of the U.S. Supreme Court, It never has been so........
I don't know what word to use. The STUFFING through of Gorsuch, and Kavanah into their ranks didn't make me regain any confidence in the USSC....sorry.
Re: Gorsuch and Kavanah, I found myself thinking, are these the best of the best that the Republican Party has to draw from??????????

(115,683 posts)And they knew it was dumb and completely result-oriented, which is no doubt why they issued it per curiam (by the court) so we wouldn't know who actually wrote the opinion. Only three of the justices who heard that case (Thomas, Breyer and Ginsburg) are still on the court, though. Rehnquist was actually worse and more extreme than any of the current court members, with the possible exception of Thomas.

(8,817 posts)I am sure I would use much more definitive adjectives re: their un-constitutional and corrupt intervening "decision" to "implant" W Bush..(actually Cheney/Rumsfeld et al)... into the White House.....
BTW: My friends in Europe take great pride in telling me that if Cheney or Rumsfeld ever come to most of the countries in Europe, they will be arrested as they get off the plane and taken immediately to the Hague.....(They consider W a dimwit who scrambled his brain with massive amounts of ETOH and Cocaine and didn't even have the ability to understand what was going on around him........)

(30,613 posts)And if they could, they'd acquit Trump themselves. Fortunately, they can't.

(317 posts)The Founding Fathers would not have taken the time or trouble to put impeachment in the Constitution if they thought that the president was above the law or that a president could run to court and dispense with it! Now we will see if the Constitution is a mere scrap of paper!

It's likely he scanned a report from the republicans that referred to him in glowing terms and declared the impeachment unconstitutional because there was no blow job.

(8,817 posts)They probably summarized it in one short paragraph, in Sharpie sized print, triple spaced.
People, do you realize we are turning his massively corrupt antics into humor?
How pathetic is that???????
I suppose it's that, or overdose on anti-depressants........

Even a Supreme Court packed with nine of your idiots would have to blow that one off.
