Quietly recruiting megadonors, Pompeo eyes a massive Senate campaign war chest

Source: McClatchy

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has reached out to Sheldon Adelson, the Republican Party’s largest donor, in recent weeks to “gauge interest” in his potential run for an open Senate seat in Kansas next year, three sources familiar with the matter told McClatchy.

It is the latest evidence of Pompeo’s outreach campaign to rally donor support around a potential Senate bid, following similar conversations with Charles Koch, a Kansas resident, as well as donors affiliated with the American Israel Public Affairs Committee.

Pompeo has flirted with a run for months, and President Donald Trump said on Tuesday in London that he would encourage his secretary of state to leave office and run if he believed Republicans were at risk of losing the seat.

Kris KKKobach was defeated last year in the Governor's race, but that doesn't mean that it's now a blue state. Kobach is just a complete asshole and everybody hates him! I'm sure Pompeo will win if he runs - although there are strange things happening in DC now, so who knows?

in the morning grew up in Kansas, so if they are all like him, Pompeo will be a shoo-in. I hope I'm proven wrong by the normal people of Kansas.

Imagine this was Hilary. Oh wait, we don't have to imagine, we KNOW the bs the far right media made/fabricated in that whole Clinton Foundation movie/bs.

When Pompeo goes down, I imagine it will be in a gloriously hued flaming-shit show.

I hate that the press continues to treat these people, like Pompeo and other Trumpsters, as legitimate candidates in OUR democracy. The headline should read something along the line,

"Trump apologist and criminal enabler, Pompeo, amasses huge campaign watchers in attempt to purchase senate seat he can't win any other way."

But, no. They always have to both sides everything and treat these criminals as honest to goodness politicians.

on a future run for the WH. He probably thinks that since tRump made it, so could he. After the destruction a republican governor (Brownback) did, why do Kansas citizens keep voting (R)?
