Ted Lieu undergoes surgery following chest pain

Source: the hill

By Tal Axelrod - 12/11/19 12:10 PM EST

Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.) underwent surgery Tuesday after experiencing chest pain and will be absent from Congress for the remainder of the week.

His office said in a statement Wednesday that Lieu was admitted to George Washington University Hospital Monday evening with chest pain but that tests showed no signs of a heart attack or heart damage. He later underwent a successful stent surgery after a CT scan showed partial blockage of an artery.

“He is in good spirits and plans to be back at work next week,” Marc Cevasco, Lieu’s chief of staff, said in the statement.

“He is now recovering and will likely be discharged from the hospital later today. Congressman Lieu is deeply grateful to all the dedicated professionals at the [Office of Attending Physician] OAP and GW University Hospital,” he added. “He does plan to watch a lot of TV as he recovers.”..............

He probably had a cardiac stent inserted. I had one last January and I got remarkably better the day after the procedure.

My dad had a stent while on chemo and weak and he recovered very quickly. It was the easiest of his many surgeries.

Hope he's back soon, we need him.

The whole nation is stressed by the Trump residency! Everyone I know is quite upset. Our lawmakers are public servants who are witnessing Evil up close. This is stressful! I don’t know how my liberal senator manages to stay on the job, but I appreciate that he is there defending my values. All best wishes Rep. Lieu and take care.

My father has had 4 installed and one gradmother had 6! Three uncles have had a few. They are a quick yet very safe procedure, where the patient feels markedly better almost immediatly.

The operation isnt cheap, but no where near the direct and indirect costs for heart bypass surgery costs..
