Kelly leads McSally in Arizona Senate race: poll

Source: The Hill

Retired astronaut Mark Kelly (D) leads Sen. Martha McSally (R) by a narrow 3-point margin in Arizona, a state critical to Democratic chances of recapturing the Senate in the 2020 elections, according to a new poll.

A poll conducted by OH Predictive Insights shows Kelly leading McSally by a 47 percent to 44 percent margin, fueled by a substantial gender gap. Kelly, the husband of former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D), leads among women by a 53 percent to 38 percent margin, while McSally leads among men by a smaller 51 percent to 41 percent margin.

Kelly holds a 10-point lead in Maricopa County, which contributes about 60 percent of the statewide vote. Only one statewide candidate in recent memory has won Arizona without carrying Maricopa. He leads among independent voters by a 51 percent to 37 percent margin.

McSally, meanwhile, holds a substantial 22-point advantage in the state’s rural communities. She leads Kelly among white voters by a single point, but he holds an overwhelming 58 percent to 32 percent edge among Hispanic voters, the poll shows.

Unlike many candidates, he hasn't used this info to hit me up for more contributions. When he first decided to run, he cautiously asked me if I would like to contribute (I've known him and Gabby since before she was shot, and it's always awkward hitting up people you know), I gave him double what he asked for, since this was a Senate seat I once hoped, way back when, that Gabby would occupy. Mark is REALLY one of the good guys. I'd love to see him representing Arizona in the Senate.

Have gone the last three years when the snowbirds return. In 2017 saw mf45 signs and flags, last year a few, this year I did not see one sign, flag or bumper sticker. Arizona is turning blue. The red areas are losing populations where the Maricopa, Tucson areas are gaining population. I was surprised how the areas have become even more multicultural. When I started going out there 25 years ago it was lily white. Not so much anymore. The Arizona republic newspaper does not think highly of McSally and had a good article about Mark Kelly.

Go Mark Kelly Senator from Arizona 2020.
