Obama On Libya Attack: Not ‘Just A Mob Action’

Source: TPM

Questioned whether the attack on a U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya this month constitued terrorism, President Obama on Monday said that it was clear "it wasn't just a mob action."

"There's no doubt that the kind of weapons that were used, the ongoing assault, that it wasn't just a mob action," said Obama at a taping of ABC's The View, per a White House pool report. "What's clear is that, around the world, there are still a lot of threats out there."

"There's never an excuse for violence," he added. "The best way to marginalize that kind of speech [in the anti-Islam movie} is to ignore it. You don't make yourself bigger by putting other people down."

BBC and CBC have both been covering that angle. (Somewhat to this Canadian's embarrassment, BBC did a much better job on that so far, but still.)

so it's Al Jazeera (as usual) and secondary sources if you want to know what's been happening.

I have no idea why they didn't pick this one up. I guess they're all preparing to tub thump for war against them Ay- rabs even though most of the people they want to declare war on aren't Arab.

I do wish that had gotten a lot more press than it had, though. It's a huge thing, completely undermines the "Muslims are an evil monolith" thing that people even here like pushing pretty hard, and frankly is just something those people deserve to be known for doing.
