Wuhan Residents Take 'Zero Cases' Claim With Pinch of Salt

Source: Radio Free Asia

Wuhan resident Zhang Ruyi said public trust in the government is at a low ebb, because of attempts by local health officials to cover up the emergence of the new pathogen in December, partly by suppressing information and partly by classifying the surge of new cases as "pneumonia."

"It's funny, that," Zhang said, adding that he is highly skeptical of the claim. "They're not just lying now; they've been lying since the start, by classifying [COVID-19] cases under other diseases."

"There are 60 million people in Hubei, and they have all just been left to live or die without any help," he said. "It's basically down to a person's immune system."

"They are saying that only a few thousand died here in Wuhan, but does that sound right?"

Social media reports posted by volunteers showed that more than 20 patients were admitted to Wuhan Tongji Hospital on Wednesday alone with symptoms resembling COVID-19.

"There were more than 20 cases at Tongji today," one volunteer posted. "Wuhan hasn't dared to report them, because [local officials] are under [political] pressure."

1. Yeah, I wouldn't be at all surprised if

China is covering up new cases. Same with Russia. Trump would love to do that here but we have individual states that will tell the truth.

4. Even if there are no new cases...

Wouldn't Cv19 still be all over surfaces, etc?

Could it restart that way?

5. Viruses don't live long outside of a host.

How long is up for debate with Cv19, but it will die when exposed to the outside environment. If we can reduce infections to just a relatively small number of humans, it can be controlled. Actual elimination, like with small pox, is very tough to do. Best bet is advancements in treatment and we're seeing that daily. The upside is, Cv19's genetics were sequenced in days. Days. That's still a wonder for us who remember gene sequencing in it's infancy. So developing effective treatments, including a vaccine, can be achieved in fractions of the time it took just 10 years ago. And the crash research on this virus will have carry over affects in treating other viral pathogens as well.

6. Nyet. 3 days Stainless Steel/Plastic, 1 day paper, exposure to UV for long, it's one cooked Corona

Further, transmission by fomites is not considered a significant path for infection.

Let's concentrate on who is to blame for what is occurring in this country, Red Don and the GOP, and not fall prey to GOP/Russian propaganda trying to shift the blame.

7. About the UV claim

there are people on social media promoting the idea that a few warm sunny days will kill off the virus outdoors. It might give a false sense of security.
