'Tremendous Victory' For Wildlife: Federal Judge Invalidates Keystone XL Pipeline Permit
Source: HuffPost
A federal judge in Montana on Wednesday overturned a key water crossing permit needed to build the controversial Keystone XL pipeline, handing a major victory to environmental groups who said the oil network could imperil endangered species and threaten drinking water.
Chief U.S. District Judge Brian Morris said in his decision that the Army Corps of Engineers had failed to consider how a 2017 permit allowing the pipeline to cross waterways could harm some species, including the endangered pallid sturgeon.

It was true a decade ago, and its just as true today: Keystone XL would be a bad deal for the American people and should never be built.

(787 posts)The US wasn't going to use the Canadian tar sands, or be refined here. I don't remember if we were going to be paid for transporting through our country.
Good riddance to Keystone XL.

(12,503 posts)the thought of highly abrasive tar sands flowing through and scouring crappy made Russian pipe has been a nightmare scenario. The quartz granule scouring would wear out the thickness of the pipe walls, especially on any bends, and the spills would be massive and devastating to migratory wildlife.
If we can hold until president-elect Joe tells trump to stuff his pipeline up his ass, were good to go in killing this pipeline foolishness.

(1,797 posts)Serves the oil lobby and their conservative mouthpieces our Canadian Parliament just right. One good turn deserves another for all the green energy projects they killed:
1) Spring 2018 - Doug Ford campaign names Chris Froggatt as vice-chair.
2) Froggatt listed as a lobbyist for Irving Oil in 2016.
3) December 2019 - Ontario (Canada) Premier Doug Ford kills the Hamilton LRT.
4) November 2019 - Doug Ford government spent $231 million to scrap wind turbine projects
