Trump dismisses hydroxychloroquine study that undermines him as a "Trump enemy statement"
Source: Vox
President Donald Trump is now dismissing medical information promulgated by his own government as a Trump enemy statement.
Trump made that remark on Tuesday afternoon, when he was asked following a lunch with Republican senators to explain his rationale for promoting unproven and potentially dangerous hydroxychloroquine treatments for coronavirus. The presidents ensuing effort to defend the stunning announcement he made on Monday that hes taking the anti-malarial drug didnt end up making much sense. But it did reveal a reflexive contempt for scientific reasoning that undercuts his talking points.
Why is it okay for you to promote the use of this drug when youre not a doctor? a reporter asked. Trump responded by making a case that he knows better than medical professionals do.
I worked with doctors, he began. If you look at the one survey, the only bad survey, they were giving it to people that were in very bad shape, they were very old, almost dead. It was a Trump enemy statement.

(183,007 posts)Though the official count is almost certainly an undercount, the president seems to think that a lot of people who appear to die from coronavirus are actually killed by other unnatural means, such as falling down a flight of stairs.
Apparently Trump would have us believe the 2020 stair-falling season has been unusually severe.

The flood of ignorance made all the more deadly because there are people standing in its path who cheer the ignorance on. Praising the dam breaker for freeing them from the math and science of it all.

(333 posts)We have caught him in thousands of lies and yet everytime he says something we tend to take him at his word. He says he took the hydroxychloroquine and everybody is just talking about how risky it is for him to take it. But get this, WHAT IF HE IS LYING!! IS IT POSSIBLE THAT THE BIGGEST LIAR TO EVER SIT AT THE RESOLUTE DESK IS TELLING THE TRUTH? HELL NO. HE NEVER TOOK THE TREATMENT, HE JUST WANTS US TO TAKE IT. Why would he lie? Well think about the man your dealing with. Do you really think a man with a narcissistc personality who is a sociopathalogical liar, vein, selfish, self centered, greedy, would risk his life on a drug that hasn't been fully tested. Or would it be less risky for him to just lie and say he took it.
From the nytimes: If hydroxychloroquine becomes an accepted treatment, several pharmaceutical companies stand to profit, including shareholders and senior executives with connections to the president. Mr. Trump himself has a small personal financial interest in Sanofi, the French drugmaker that makes Plaquenil, the brand-name version of hydroxychloroquine.

So we no longer recommend hydroxychloroquine. In fact we have moved it from a possible drug to a not recommended drug. Dr. Tom Balcezak, chief clinical officer for Yale-New Haven Health says of the drug the President is taking

(5,485 posts)if you could just say anything, and know to yourself that anything that contradicted what you said or thought, was just fake, or said by an enemy out to get you.
But people might think you are dim witted or delusional, and point that out, so most 5 year olds grow past that stage. Some adults though, can keep it up much longer.
Who thought this guy would make a good leader of the Free World? Oh yeah, a whole bunch of other delusional people.

(7,814 posts)That's chilling. I've got a funny feeling that he says that phrase quite often.
What's next? Reports that agent orange gets high, wanders around the WH, and talks to portraits of former presidents? This is assuming he knows who they are.
