MADISON, Wis. (WMTV)-- Health officials reported the second largest spike in deaths related to COVID-19 in Wisconsin since the pandemic began on Saturday.

The Wisconsin DHS reports 20 new deaths related to complications from COVID-19. According to the DHS' COVID-19 dashboard, no other day experienced that number of deaths except last Wednesday, when 22 deaths were reported.

Meanwhile, the number of new confirmed COVID-19 cases in Wisconsin leveled off after a record spike in numbers on Friday.

The DHS reports 523 new cases on Saturday, down from a height of 733 new cases the day before.

...by the Republicans on the WI Supreme Court. And the Republican legislators who brought the case.

They had no plan to put in place after they blew away Gov Ever's plan.

Now we all pay.

Testing has become more available - it was pretty tough to get a test in March and April.

The economy is in the process of reopening as of may 26.

Some people are acting like its all over, and they don't need to take any precautions.

"Leveled off"????? How can they say that just one day after a record number and then hitting our third highest the next day? (Third highest...they are wrong...we hit the second highest earlier this week with 533 new cases). ON EDIT: I’m wrong too—-4th highest. Forgot about 599 Thursday. Miserable writing. My hospital had just started to relax our admissions for non-urgent issues...and now we have a spike in admissions who are COVID-19 positive. Way to go Wisco! This is only the beginning.

"Woo-hoo, let's pack up our infected asses and go up north."

They may have already had their spike downstate and in Chicago, but we were ok up here till the repigs opened things up too early and let them all in. They opened the pandemc floodgates in the process. Thanks a lot, assholes.

Should be

Health officials reported on Saturday the second largest spike {...} since the pandemic began.

Move two words.
So easy.
But requires a little proofreading and thinking.

In their defence, so many news operations are squeezed so hard by bean counters that they have little time or training.

First time canceled but you can't have 10,000 aircraft and 100,000+ people in close contact for a week. That could have been a horrendous outbreak. Hopefully next year........

Because this isn't the largest outbreak in Wisconsin, we are considering this a local story that can be posted in GD.
