Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard on Tuesday announced that six officers face criminal charges after the arrest of two Atlanta college students during the city's curfew crackdown Saturday.
Video of Atlanta police officers pulling the students from a car and shocking them with Tasers has sparked national outrage and resulted in the termination of two of the cops. The others have been placed on desk duty.
The victims, 20-year-old Spelman College student Taniyah Pilgrim and 22-year-old former Morehouse College student Messiah Young, were near downtown Atlanta when they were confronted by the group of police officers, AJC.com previously reported.

(296 posts)Should the student victims choose to file a civil complaint, these officer will have to pay their legal fees out of their own pockets. They won't be covered by the liability insurance since they violated the law(s).

(969 posts)I would like them to please explain why they felt they need to use such force why the video is playing ... Have this live tv ... then ask them how would you feel if this was being done to your son, daughter, mother, father...would approve...

(16,187 posts)This is completely unreasonable and unacceptable!! I am so glad these officers are being charged. Clearly, we need a complete overhaul of how policing is done in this country, once we have a reasonable person in the WH.
