The ACLU of Ohio is calling for a Republican state senator to quit or be fired for comments during a committee hearing Tuesday referring to the colored population and questioning whether they get COVID-19 more often because they do not wash their hands as much.
As a practicing physician of nearly 20 years, he knew precisely what type of harm his ignorant, heinous, and callously hurtful comments would have on communities of color in Ohio, said J. Bennett Guess, executive director of the civil liberties organization.

During a discussion with Angela Dawson, executive director of the Ohio Commission on Minority Health, Sen. Steve Huffman, a doctor from Tipp City north of Dayton, said, I understand that African Americans have a higher incidence of prior conditions and that makes them more susceptible to COVID, but does not make them more susceptible just to get COVID.
We know its twice as often, correct? Could it just be that African Americans the colored population do not wash their hands as well as other groups? Or wear a mask? Or do not socially distance themselves? Could that just be maybe the explanation of why theres a higher incidence?

So I believe this is one of those racist doctors.

(1,493 posts)If the ACLU can (and should) work to getting this bigot to resign, why can't they/we get organized to get that Orange man out of the WH ASAP? The BLM movement cannot really move forward until Trump and all his groupies are out of office.

(6,927 posts)and he does not belong in an ER either.
If racists want to go to him in private practice that is their choice.
People showing up in an ER do not have that choice.
