ACLU calls for removal of Ohio senator who cited 'colored' people not washing their hands in coronav

Source: Columbus Dispatch

The ACLU of Ohio is calling for a Republican state senator to quit or be fired for comments during a committee hearing Tuesday referring to “the colored population” and questioning whether they get COVID-19 more often because they do not wash their hands as much.

As a practicing physician of nearly 20 years, he knew precisely what type of harm his ignorant, heinous, and callously hurtful comments would have on communities of color in Ohio,” said J. Bennett Guess, executive director of the civil liberties organization.

...snip...

During a discussion with Angela Dawson, executive director of the Ohio Commission on Minority Health, Sen. Steve Huffman, a doctor from Tipp City north of Dayton, said, “I understand that African Americans have a higher incidence of prior conditions and that makes them more susceptible to COVID, but does not make them more susceptible just to get COVID.

“We know it’s twice as often, correct? Could it just be that African Americans – the colored population — do not wash their hands as well as other groups? Or wear a mask? Or do not socially distance themselves? Could that just be maybe the explanation of why there’s a higher incidence?”

His hate and racism obvioulsy prevented him from learning basic medicine and science. Beware people of Dayton.

I heard that these doctors don’t give out as much pain meds because “ blacks” are more easily addicted. I heard this on a show and about fell out of my chair.

So I believe this is one of those racist doctors.

If the ACLU can (and should) work to getting this bigot to resign, why can't they/we get organized to get that Orange man out of the WH ASAP? The BLM movement cannot really move forward until Trump and all his groupies are out of office.

They're making a statement. They can't ACT to remove elected officials or they risk their 501(c)(3) status.

Guys like him need a good smack in the chops, not that I condone violence. Call it an attitude adjustment.

and he does not belong in an ER either.
If racists want to go to him in private practice that is their choice.
People showing up in an ER do not have that choice.

a troglodyte, but why is the ACLU suggesting that the Senate breach the first Amendment?
