Christie predicts Romney debate performance will change course of presidential race

Source: NBC

“On Wednesday night Mitt Romney is going to be standing on the same stage as the president of the United States. And I am telling you David, come Thursday morning the entire narrative of this race is going to change," Christie told NBC’s David Gregory.

Asked whether it was too late for Romney to reverse polling numbers which show him behind Obama in battleground states such as New Hampshire, Nevada and Ohio, Christie contended that “the general public that I speak to in New Jersey and elsewhere are just beginning to really tune in to this race."

“Wednesday night is the restart of this campaign,” Christie argued. “I think you’re going to see those (polling) numbers move right back in the other direction” as a result of the debate.

* * *
Following Christie, Obama adviser David Plouffe said Romney and his aides “expect to come out of this (debate) with the race fundamentally changed. What does that mean? If it’s going to fundamentally change, that means seven or 10 days from now, you’ll see states like Ohio tied, states like Iowa tied, because that’s what really matters here, so they set the bar quite high” for Romney’s performance on Wednesday night in his confrontation with Obama.

Oh wait! Another reboot! So, the Romney campaigns strategy was to hide in a hole doing debate prep and fundraising for months while ignoring the American people! No tax returns. No specific plans. Instead, memorize zingers for weeks on end, and hope that the American people are so impressed by well-practiced clever comebacks that they vote for Mitt Romney?

I am sure that the pundits love zingers, but to stake your entire presidential campaign on them is amazing.

When Mitt LIES thru his teeth, AGAIN, it will be swiftly knocked down by fact checking and will go viral. That's the problem... Mitt can stand up there an make his weird world salad and lie and say pithy things they wrote for him, BUT... it's not a bunch of men in sweater vests watching him on black and white TV anymore. There will be fact checking in REAL TIME. The men with the smoking jackets won't be waiting to get their NY Times on the porch the next morning.

Anyone who is stupid enough to choose someone based on a debate, that Mitt has been practicing for since July, should be deported or stripped of their voting rights. It's a damn tv show... and we already know where Mitt stands. Period.

But the Fox News vermin will call it a "GAME CHANGER!!!!" Just like Yahoo news today is saying that the President is ahead, "but Mitt is still close enough to win." Uh huh...

For Gov Christie, as we say a favorite insult in the south when somone just really steps in it, "well bless his heart." There are only 2 chances that something will change the outcome of Pres Obama being re-elected: those 2 chances are extra-slim and none. I swear the Reps have been smoking something funny smelling. Here's my prediction for the debates: Romney still won't have any details on tax cuts, foreign policy, the war in Afghanistan, global warming, or fill-in-the-blank. He still won't be able to explain how 5 trillion in tax cuts for the 1%, 2 trilliion in extending the Bush tax cuts some more, or 1 trilliion in new defense spending will reduce the deficit.

You had better bring a big soup bowl and a spoon to the debates because POTUS will be serving lots of creamed Romney.

any objective viewing to the debates will move the race from "too close to call" to "stick a fork in 'em."

About those "zingers" romney is rehearsing ... I'd love for President Obama to respond by opening his mouth as if to respond, then in silence just smiling, bowing his head ever so slightly and shaking his head. You know, like we all do when that co-worker/associate/friend with no filters says something really, really stupid ... too stupid to respond to.

Then, after the second or third time, say (with a smile): "Ya know ... I promised myself I would allow you to deliver these "zingers" that you've worked so hard on; but I just can't ... the audience might believe that you really believe what you are saying!" Then, address the previous "zingers."

One thing the supporters of Romney keep saying, "Are you better off now than you were 4 years ago?" Again, Romney has to steal from someone else. Those are the exact words Reagan used during his presidential debate.
The Repubs are so pissed because President Obama brought transparency to The People. President Obama has opened the doors for Us to see inside our government and the Depts within. When the Repubs speak of "big government", they are actually referring to The People being involved in the going ons around our country and other countries. They are doing whatever they can to make sure The People stay suppressed, so they can continue business as usual. When they don't get their way, they make things happen to punish The People more. They pick their ball up and go play in someone else's yard...like China. Well, I say Let em stay over in China! But now they want to come back and play in our yard again because China is experiencing the beginning of inflation, and China is taking money from them! Oh well, you reap what you sow!
Have we become so helpless that we forgot how to prosper on our own? Does it take a big company to provide our food? Does it take a corporation to build our homes? Does it take a big bank to provide us money? Does it take the big realtors to buy or sell our homes for us? Do we have to buy from big grocers?
We have the power and our own resources to make the USA strong for The People again! Start small from within our own communities. Form small task groups to go straight to the local farms, take food and supply orders straight to the distributors, help build sell and buy homes from each other across the nation, make community gardens, the list is never ending. There are ways to fight back, other than words and wars. After all, we are the nation of creative thinking!
Last but not least...God is not down for the count.

They know the score and how things are going. They are simply saying things that they believe they must say in order to keep this thing afloat until Nov. 6th. They have their own internal polling that tells them pretty much what they need to know. Romney has been running for what?? Six or seven years? He is NOT the unknown candidate that Americans are just now tuning in to meet. We've seen this guy, heard from this man and know pretty much who he is. If anyone had the slightest doubt, the secret tape where he casts aside the 47 %ers pretty much revealed who and what he is.

Now the Republican Party has run every flag they can think of up the pole to see who salutes. These remarks by Christie are just one more flag up that pole. The very idea that they can restart this campaign (or jump start it is more like it) is just their feeble attempt to try one more thing to give life to the corpse that is the Romney-Ryan campaign.

Thursday morning will be one more day closer to the election and one less day that Romney/Ryan have to change the game.

People who haven't paid attention to the ongoing press will in some measure turn out and do all the projecting onto Romney that the uninitiated can do, and unless he sprouts another head it might confirm what they're already determined to do. But I think it'll just serve to make the Dems need to double down on the ads now that more are paying attention, and Obama will still come out on top.
