At least we can say there wasn't a horrible act of racism involved.

It is unfortunate that this story got elevated as fast as it did, and everyone jumped in to assume the worst.

It was just a loop tied on all the ropes on the garage doors to make it easy to pull the ropes.

As I read it: “fashioned like a noose...” implies that a rope pull was tied into a noose.

Clarification that these rope pulls have loops in them would have been better clarified in their statement.

Perhaps I jumped judgement...

this. Bubba Wallace was able to convince NASCAR to remove confederate flags and work to diversify its sport, and also take a firm stance against bigotry & racism, knowing it would receive backlash from a large group of its fans. Its management had to grapple with the future of the sport and how it wanted to be perceived. I felt it was a very hard decision. I'm glad it stuck to its guns and collectively backed its only black driver on the issue knowing it was the right thing to do.

to pull the garage door open (as most if not all garages have), and every garage had it, why all of a sudden would someone think it was strange and be compelled to then call the authorities? Where's the dang noose-shaped rope been all this time?

Also, the photos look a bit sketchy to me. My gut feeling is there's much more to this than what's been revealed.

Without having any personal knowledge myself.

They were scared of blow back.

If someone came forward and said "Um, there's a loop on all our garage doors and have been for years. I think someone misconstrued this" -- the entire media and the NASCAR brass would have jumped them and called them racist.

Can't say a simple and easy truth because ...

The rest is all "hey, it was false and deceptive, as it turns out, but it got us power and our goals, so Truth through falsehood is a winning and virtuous path!"

I sort of still like the truth and the freedom of being able to speak. Even truth. Even to power.

I wonder if any of that particular crew had been to Talladega since the garage door pulls were put in place.

First Kyle Larson, a top tier driver with Ganassi Racing, lost his job due to uttering the n-word when he thought he was off mike and wasn't, then the banning of the KKKonfederate flag just a couple weeks ago, and then this noose situation. All through this, Bubba Wallace has been the focal point of the news coverage, and he has handled it well.

The only people in the garage with the current restrictions are race team members, and track staff (including security.) The drivers are transported on golf carts from their motorhome lot to pit road where the cars are staged before the race. Wallace, therefore did not ever see the so called "noose"

I'll take that bet, however I agree with you regarding the FBI
