House approves $1.5T plan to fix crumbling infrastructure

Source: NBC News

The Democratic-controlled House approved a $1.5 trillion plan Wednesday to rebuild the nationís crumbling infrastructure, pouring hundreds of billions of dollars into projects to fix roads and bridges, upgrade transit systems, expand interstate railways and dredge harbors, ports and channels.

The bill also authorizes more than $100 billion to expand internet access for rural and low-income communities and $25 billion to modernize the U.S. Postal Serviceís infrastructure and operations, including a fleet of electric vehicles.

Lawmakers approved the Moving Forward Act by a 233-188 vote, mostly along party lines. It now goes to the Republican-controlled Senate, where a much narrower bill approved by a key committee has languished for nearly a year.

Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., has not attempted to schedule a floor debate and none appears forthcoming.

1. I was hoping for a bill to help the crumbling US consumer first but maybe the repukes will go for

more corporate giveaways. I mean, wall street already got treated to a 9 trillion sugar high.At least the money is going to something more useful than tRumps wall.

3. And he hasn't built so much as a rest stop!

They have splurged hundreds of billions in weapons the military itself has said they don't want - but who's counting!

5. Well, he has had a few miles of Wall built by now ... I suppose that could be sorta

be referred to as 'infrastructure'.

Which I hope will be torn down sometime in 2021.

7. Absolutely, Judi.

If it doesn't have to do with military spending, everything's on the cheap thanks to these GOP miscreants.

We're just lucky most of them were so well built in the first place.
