International body says voting problems 'could harm integrity' of US election

OSCE office for democratic institutions recommends sending 500 monitors for most challenging US election in recent decades.
An international election-monitoring body has raised concerns about the US vote in November, saying the integrity of election day proceedings could be under threat and recommended again sending observers to monitor the election.
The democracy and human rights arm of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) has issued an assessment of election conditions in the run-up to presidential and congressional elections on 3 November.
It recommended member states send 100 long-term and 400 short-term observers to monitor the poll which it said will be the most challenging in recent decades.
A week-long needs assessment mission by the OSCEs Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) beginning on 29 May found there was widespread concern that election officials will face serious challenges prior to and on election day, due to new measures in response to Covid-19 pandemic, and expressed concerns over their ability to overcome them.

(34,136 posts)But once that is done, you can vote as usual. In contrast, you can take your absentee ballot to any early voting location or to the Superintendent of Elections office and drop it off without that complication.

(44,973 posts)They won't allow you to vote by a regular ballot at your voting place even if you give them your absentee ballot.
Your only option would be to vote provisional. You can only drop the ballot off at the board of elections or mail it.

(9,986 posts)States like Oregon that has ling voted by mail may not need this, but for many people his will be their first time voting by mail and every state has specific requirements to be met. Republicans will use any excuse to Throw out Democratic ballots, so people need to be well informed before they complete their ballots. Even though Im voting in person, I plan to post the Texas requirements on Facebook in a public post. Im not on Twitter or I would do the same there.
Local news affiliates would do voters a favor by reviewing the requirements.
