Poll: Biden leads Trump by 9 points nationally

Source: The Hill

Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden leads President Trump by 9 points nationally with the less than three months before the 2020 election, according to an NBC News-Wall Street Journal poll released on Sunday.

The survey, published just a day ahead of the start of the Democratic National Convention, showed that 50 percent of registered voters favor the former vice president, while just 41 percent say they'd vote for Trump. The findings represent little shift in public sentiment from a similar poll conducted in July that showed Biden with an 11-point advantage over Trump.

The new survey was released just days after Biden selected Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) to be his running-mate and as the U.S. continues to weather challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic.

Biden carries double-digit advantages over Trump on handling issues including the coronavirus and health care. Forty-nine percent of voters said Biden was better suited to handle the current health crisis, while just 33 percent said the same of Trump. Meanwhile, Biden leads Trump by 24 percentage points on handling race relations.

The selection of Kamala Harris bolstered that part of the electorate that would NEVER vote for Biden anyway.

Not worrying at all to me, and totally explainable.

Trump is failing so badly on all fronts, the ONLY way he wins this election is via voter suppression and foreign intereference. And don't get me wrong: he COULD win.

WE NEED TO GET OUT THE VOTE AND SAVE THE MAIL-IN VOTE.

In politics that can be almost an eternity sometimes. Current events that might be out of control of either candidate might affect this race. And Trump will probably try some sort of "wag the dog" event as well.

and pull out all sorts of surprises in the next 2.5 months. We can win but should never take it for granted or get complacent.

I would feel more comfortable if it were a 9% lead in each of the "battleground" states.

The CNN poll that came out today shows a very close race, 50% for Biden and 46% for Trump. In 15 battleground states, it's about dead even with Biden at 49% and Trump at 48%. https://www.cnn.com/2020/08/16/politics/cnn-poll-biden-trump-august/index.html

That really scares me and I hope this poll is off. I wonder what they polled in the 2016 election?

Biden has to hit a home run with his speech at the convention, and totally crush Trump in the upcoming debates to win.
