Pelosi celebrates walkback of Postal Service changes: 'They felt the heat'

Source: Politico

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Tuesday credited public pressure for spurring Postmaster General Louis DeJoy's decision to roll back reforms at the U.S. Postal Service that prompted fears of election interference.

The news that the Postal Service was suspending its “operational initiatives” broke moments before Pelosi’s interview with POLITICO Playbook authors Anna Palmer and Jake Sherman.

"They felt the heat,” the California Democrat said. “And that's what we were trying to do, to make it too hot for them to handle."

The speaker maintained that the House would continue with plans to vote Saturday on a $25 billion bill to boost funding and stop organizational changes at the Postal Service.

By slowing down the U.S. mail to sabotage the delivery and return of VBM mail ballots, Trump could and might still be able to force larger urban years to go into crisis of trying to conduct in-person voting during a pandemic, particularly for those States that do not permit early voting. In addition, if the sorting of mail was strategically slowed in Democratic leaning areas, Trump could delay the return of ballots until after the deadlines to do so, thus forcing the disqualification of ballots from such areas. Many States require ballots to be returned by a specific time, and by interfering with the mail, Trump could effectively throw ballots in the trash.

Sure, Democrats could litigate it, but with a Republican Majority Court, Trump might be able to undermine the conduct of the 2020 election.

Lots of damage is already done. And I gotta believe these guys will lie, lie, lie until it is too late to do anything. We need a FULL audit of what is going on NOW. Don't believe anything these lizards say.

I don’t trust anything he says. Postal workers need to keep speaking out if they aren’t seeing changes.

He needs to testify still and hard questions need to be asked.

He is a criminal.

I'm still going to pressure all congresscritters to keep the pressure on. I still send emails and phone calls everyday, now I have to change my tune and tell them to proceed with holding DeJoy accountable still.

OK, back to work.

They loudly announce common-sense concessions when under the media spotlight - then go right back to what they were doing, as soon as the heat is off.

Not that we shouldn't keep putting a spotlight on this stuff -- and the media seems to be doing their job (as well they should). What worries me is what we haven't found out yet. The media spotlight can only shine on what is discovered.

All this is no doubt the tip of the iceberg - the bulk of it being what will surely be a massive vote tabulation machine hacking effort.

Vlad and Bibi intend to flip those votes like pancakes - and thanks to all those Bush-era read-and-write software-powered machines, it'll be a cinch.

It's high-tech ballot-stuffing. As it was in key states in 2016.

And monitor service level of USPS using 2nd quarter data as the benchmark. If they got 70% of the dirty work done before further halting the demise of USPS then it should show up in the service level reports produced by USPS. I suspect those 670 high speed sorting machines will not be put back into service so you know the service level is impacted.

their confession means absolutely nothing. Put the sorting machines back in the Post Offices from where they were taken, get them in working order, return all mail collection boxes to their original location immediately, approve any overtime as needed without question. Anything less than this is election interference.

that DeJoy had taken 3 giant steps forward (in executing his/Trump's plan) and 1 small step back. So, no, she's not trusting him. House will still pass legislation on Saturday to undo DeJoy's moves and fund USPS. It seems Senate will also pass a similar bill that Trump will sign.

US Postal Service delays force Department of Veterans Affairs to shift prescription delivery methods

Source: CNN

The Department of Veterans Affairs has been forced to find alternative ways to ship mail-order prescriptions for patients whose medication is delivered by the United States Postal Service, including FedEx and UPS, CNN has learned.

The VA acknowledged the change in an email to a veterans group called Disabled Vets of America after it raised the issue on behalf of patients who had reported significant delays in receiving medication from USPS in recent weeks amid a nationwide slowdown, according to a copy of the correspondence reviewed by CNN.

"The VA has now confirmed to us that the United States Postal Service (USPS), which is responsible for delivering about 90% of all VA mail order prescriptions, has indeed been delayed in delivering these critical medications by an average of almost 25% over the past year, with many locations experiencing much more significant delays," the group's national commander, Stephen Whitehead, said in a statement Monday.

"To help mitigate these postal delays, the VA has been forced to switch to alternative delivery services in a number of areas across the country and is taking other actions to expedite processing and delivery of prescriptions," Whitehead added.
