New Zealand leader calls Trump's claim of virus surge "patently wrong"

Source: MSN

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern on Tuesday slapped down President Trump's talk of an out-of-control coronavirus "surge" in New Zealand as "patently wrong." She expressed dismay after Mr. Trump exaggerated the new virus outbreak in New Zealand as a "huge surge" that Americans would do well to avoid.

"Anyone who is following," Ardern said, "will quite easily see that New Zealand's nine cases in a day does not compare to the United States' tens of thousands."

"Obviously, it's patently wrong," she added of Mr. Trump's remarks, in unusually blunt criticism from an American ally.

New Zealand had been hailed as a global success story after eradicating local transmission of the virus and Ardern was lauded as the "anti-Trump."

It is just odd that Trump goes out of his way to lie and slam New Zealand of all places. The only reason I can think of is that Trump feels threatened by women leaders and feels the need to go out of his way to denigrate them.

Also, New Zealand is in way better shape than the U.S. Why invite a comparison with a small island county that will only make you look bad by comparison? The only country we might look better than is Brazil.

My guess is that some aide or another was trying to deescalate time-bomb-don and mentioned the 'surge' (relative) in New Zealand - may or maynot have added numbers for context (even if they gave numbers he wouldn't have paid attention/remembered them). So of course it becomes a shiney object/distraction braggart point in a rally speech -cuz he's dumb and his aides are dumb in giving him info that he would of course use this way.

I could be wrong - but it fits with so much of what we read about the 'inner workings'. The story (of an uptick in cases) caught their attention because I believe it was announced in the last couple of days that she was going to delay their election for a couple of weeks to allow time for mitigation/actions due to the uptick. See - magic words: delayed election (granted nothing like what and why donnie dreams of).

The fact that the Prime Minister is a respected female is like the super icing on the cake.

They are just that dumb. Saddest thing is now a million or more of his cult-base are likely to repeat this non-factoid over and over again as a way to attempt to block out any thought to why are things going so badly here. They are indoctrinated to enthusiastically embrace the dumb.
