7 deaths and over 175 coronavirus cases now linked to Maine wedding

Source: NBC News

The death toll from a coronavirus outbreak linked to an indoor wedding and reception in Maine has risen to seven, with the number of cases connected to the event up to 176.

The latest death was reported at the Maplecrest Rehabilitation Center in Madison, where five prior deaths were also deemed connected to the Aug. 7 wedding and reception. One person died at a hospital in the Millinocket area, a spokesman for the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention said Tuesday.

About 65 people attended the event, in violation of Gov. Janet Mills' executive order limiting indoor gatherings to 50 people, the Maine CDC has said.

The wedding ceremony was held at Tri Town Baptist Church in East Millinocket, about 63 miles north of Bangor, and a reception was held at the Big Moose Inn Cabins and Campground in Millinocket.

A month and a half after the wedding in Maine, you have 7 people dead. So, how many will die a month and half after Labor Day weekend?

4. Exactly. The Numbers Were Going Down Into Labor Day...

...then folks in a lot of place just threw caution to the wind for Labor Day. My point is that you are not going to immediately see the impact of Labor Day or Trump's in-person rallies until about a month after the events similar to the wedding.

8. Perhaps a random picture of somewhere in the world but it's not from the link and doesn't look like

the area mentioned in the story about the wedding and doesnít look anything like the people that were affected .
I was just wondering since itís not from the link provided

14. It is definitely not Millinocket, ME

There's next to nothing in Millinocket. There's way too many people in that picture and big buildings. Looks nothing like it.

10. Wedding was "only" 65 attendees

So the 175+ cases has to include second- and third-order contacts. "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon" is fun for movie casts, not so fun for potentially lethal disease.

5. So. . The f'n assholes who run the churches in that area believe that their first amendment rights

to fleece. .excuse me. .minister to their flocks, outweigh a global pandemic crisis. Got it.

16. Wasn't a church

It was an inn where this gathering took place. Big Moose Inn is the name of the place. That was the place that state cited for not following the social distancing rules.

Oh, I see they are still investigating the church.

7. Frightening

I went to a wedding three weeks ago. It was indoors, but temps taken, masks required, tables were spaced, i was still a bit apprehensive, but I was as careful as I could be. I would not go to any events that were just a free for all.

Doing anything is a risk with this crap, it stinks.

Peace

15. Rural town in a low positivity rate state.

.5% positivity rate in Maine... still this one indoor wedding without masks and social distancing caused a big outbreak. This affected a few school districts, meaning that they had to go all online because of this for a few weeks instead of being able to do in person half time. Sucks. They affected a lot of people.

23. I live very near to that nursing home

It's next door to the local Duncan and across the street from the Catholic Church and Junior High.

I stopped shopping at the grocery store within walking distance from the nursing home - only half the people wear masks - even with what is going on down the street.

Stupid Stupid people.

Yup
