TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) A state university president in Kansas whose decision in June to cancel a virtual speech by Ivanka Trump angered donors and others resigned Friday, after less than a year in the job.
The Board of Regents, which oversees Kansas' higher education system, did not say why Wichita State University President Jay Golden stepped down, offering no details on what led up to it. The university received national attention and plenty of criticism for dropping a virtual speech by President Donald Trump's elder daughter for its technical school graduation.
. . .
Steve Clark, a former Kansas regent from Wichita, sought Goldens ouster in June and sent a letter then to board members saying Goldens decision to cancel the speech by Ivanka Trump threatened a multimillion-dollar relationship with Koch Industries, the vast conglomerate led by billionaire and conservative political donor Charles Koch.
Clark said Friday that Golden, who previously served as vice chancellor and professor of engineering at East Carolina University in North Carolina, wasnt a good cultural fit for our Midwest values here.

(152 posts)I seem to recall that Wichita first and foremost is not a state and second the Midwest values that are referenced must mean the following video clip of Gregg Marshall's wife (men's bb coach)

Clark can take his imaginary Midwest values and shove them up his ass.

(13,041 posts)@a Wichita U. I'm sure there were speaking fees involved so she wanted it. It wasn't at an Ivy, not even uPenn where she claimed to graduate magna cum laude (nix the magna - she was only cum laude & not at the top of her class as she fibbed). It was only a midwestern U, but she accepted the offer anyway. So it was all about the limelight & money. Her cousin Mary is right - this gal is as corrupt as her dad.
