The head of the White House security office is critically ill with Covid-19.

Source: The New York Times

The person in charge of the White House security office contracted a severe case of the coronavirus last month and has been hospitalized ever since, according to an administration official with knowledge of the situation.

The security office head, Crede Bailey, whose office handles a number of duties, including approving certain security clearances, coordinating with the Secret Service and handling credentials for people to be able to come onto the White House grounds, was taken to the hospital in late September, the administration official said.

Mr. Bailey’s case is not seen as connected to an outbreak that officials believe stemmed from the Sept. 26 events at the White House honoring Judge Amy Coney Barrett, President Trump’s nominee to replace Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the Supreme Court.

Still, the case, and another positive test involving the No. 2 official in the Marine Corps that was revealed on Wednesday, is an additional reminder of how pervasive the virus has become at the most famous, and protected, address in the country over the past several weeks.

Trump is putting Typhoid Mary to shame in terms of recklessly spreading a dangerous disease. Even McConnell does not want to go to the White House due to their lack of COVID-19 precautions, yet Trump and right wing news acts outraged about having a debate online. It is beneath Trump to work online when millions of people have to do it every day thanks to the incompetence of his administration.

I guess they don't want to have to deal with actual grief and fear.

After all, is less than a week, Dr. Conley pronounced that Trump is ready to begin public events.

White House Physician Clears President to Start Public Activities on Saturday Just Hours After Trump Brags: ‘I’m a Perfect Physical Specimen’

President Donald Trump tested positive for the coronavirus last Thursday and was hospitalized on Friday, temporarily requiring supplemental oxygen and receiving a high dose of an experimental antibody cocktail and the steroid dexamethasone, but his doctor now expects that he will be able to resume public events as early as Saturday — 10 days after he was first diagnosed.

Dr. Sean Conley, the Navy doctor who is the president’s personal physician, issued a letter Thursday evening, stating that [Trump] had “completed his course of therapy for COVID-19 as prescribed by his team of physicians,” along with a short report of Trump’s vital signs.

“Overall, he’s responded well to treatment,” Conley’s letter continued on Trump, noting an absence of “adverse therapeutic effects.”

“Saturday will be day 10 since Thursday’s diagnosis,” he concluded, “and based on the trajectory of advanced diagnostics the team has been conducting, I fully anticipate the President’s safe return to public engagements at that time.”

"Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Thursday said he hadn't been to the White House in over two months because the Trump administration weren't strictly following coronavirus guidelines and are now "paying the price for it."

and he IS. And he was in the news way back in 2017/2018 regarding all the unauthorized presence of this administration's staffers (including his family) in the WH, because they had no security clearances.

A career federal employee who has seldom appeared in the news, Bailey was swept up in a controversy last year over security clearances granted to Trump’s daughter, Ivanka Trump, and son-in-law Jared Kushner. Bailey privately testified to the House Oversight Committee that he didn’t face pressure from others at the White House to grant clearances, according to a report by The Hill.
