Coughing Through Hannity Interview, Trump Says He Wants to Do Saturday Rally

During a Thursday night interview in which he repeatedly stopped to cough and catch his breath, President Donald Trump wouldn’t reveal whether he’s been tested since he was diagnosed with the coronavirus but did say he hopes to hold a campaign rally in Florida this Saturday night.

Prior to Trump’s call with Fox News host Sean Hannity, the president’s doctor—who admitted he lied to the public about Trump’s health after he was hospitalized with COVID-19—cleared Trump to return to public events this coming weekend.

“Overall he’s responded extremely well to treatment, without evidence on examination of adverse therapeutic effects,” Dr. Sean Conley wrote in a letter Thursday evening. “Saturday will be Day 10 since Thursday’s diagnosis, and based on the trajectory of advanced diagnostics the team has been conducting, I fully anticipate the President’s safe return to public engagements at that time.”

After asking how the president and the first lady were feeling, Hannity brought up Conley’s letter, wondering aloud whether Trump has received a test yet to see if he’s COVID-free.

think the FL governor cares. Didn’t he just recently open everything back up in FL? Maybe FL governor can have a nice long visit with trump since supposedly trump is no longer sick according to his doctor. I think trump has bacterial pneumonia which can be spread to others by the way. My Dad had it when he had COVID-19 and was warned that my mother could possibly catch the pneumonia. Thankfully she did not.

that when I got one. It only helps for a number of pneumonia’s. Don’t believe it helps with bacterial pneumonia only viral pneumonia. I know my Dad had that vaccine for pneumonia, but it didn’t help in this case. You are right, ask questions!

Two straight days of negative tests. So far I have not heard where he has even had 1 negative test. I believe they are speculating that on Friday morning he will test negative and negative again Saturday. If he is negative Friday will they not risk a Saturday test just so he can go kill some more people?

That's why his lying fake "doctor" refuses to say when his last negative test was. It was probably last June or July that he even had a routine test. The only tests they did at the white house since then were when his symptoms were so bad and, of course, that test was positive and they took him (but not his "beloved" ) to the hospital.

AND last night on Rachel's show, she discussed multiple instances where 45 bragged about his "negative" tests - right up to around when you mentioned (probably closer to June). In fact, the Tulsa Rally was June 20 and that is when the heat was on to not have such a large maskless rally (and of course later, Herman Cain contracted the virus after attending). So that is when he probably cut off any more testing and pitched a fit if anyone tried to make him have one.

Trump continued to careen from topic to topic on Sean Hannity's show, promoting conspiracy theories, peddling falsehoods, and launching attacks on Democrats and the media during a roughly 25 minute conversation. But it was arguably the President's health that took center stage. During the interview, Hannity twice asked Trump if he had been tested for the coronavirus since he became ill last week. It was a question that the President apparently couldn't answer. Trump instead said that he will "probably" be tested on Friday. Medhi Hasan quipped about the non-answer, "Mark the date, we have reached the point where even Sean Hannity is asking Trump simple questions that the president can't or won't answer."

It wasn't just Trump's comments on his health that drew attention. It was what the audience could hear at home. At least twice during the interview, Trump had to pause his sentences and audibly clear his throat and cough. The President insisted he was feeling great, claiming he saw his doctors earlier in the day and that they believe him to be in "great shape." But he sure didn't sound like he was cured, as he claimed to be.
