On Thursday, the nations largest police union posted a photo to social media taken during the unrest in Philadelphia this week, where hundreds of protesters clashed with officers over the police killing of Walter Wallace Jr. The Fraternal Order of Polices posts showed a Philadelphia police officer holding a Black toddler clinging to her neck.
This child was lost during the violent riots in Philadelphia, wandering around barefoot in an area that was experiencing complete lawlessness, the union claimed in a tweet and Facebook post that have since been deleted. The only thing this Philadelphia police officer cared about in that moment was protecting this child.
But lawyers for the boys family say that story was a total fabrication.
In fact, they say police yanked the boy from the back seat of an SUV after busting all of the windows and violently arresting and injuring his mother, who was later released without charges.

(49,036 posts)All Cops Are Bad? NO. It is prejudice to judge a person because of association, like judging brown people because some brown people commit crimes (as do all colours).
Biggest criminal gang in America? Maybe. They have certainly framed and beaten and killed too many, as an organized group.
By the way, isn't America capitalized? From love and respect?

you refer to. Love and respect by capitalizing america? By respecting cops in america? It is appropriate for a "brown person" to say ACAB. Hell, they use one word for ALL "brown people". Always they impugn the character of "brown people". Shoot first then ask, what did you do wrong as an eleven-year-old child lay bleeding out on public park ground, as an INNOCENT EMT worker is shot dead while trying to ascertain who's breaking in her apartment door. As a man screams he can't breathe like George Floyd or Eric Garner for having a 20 dollar bill that was probably passed to him somewhere in some other transaction or selling single cigarettes on the street to be able to feed his child. Maybe if it has been returned by police, authorities or just plain american citizens over the generations. But no, it has never been that I have received love or been respected as just a human being. Even as a "brown person" vet, no love or respect. It seems police departments nationwide would not care that I am a disabled vet. I am a "brown person" who as a "brown person" did not fight so they could follow their evil hearts into murdering, hanging in a picnic atmosphere, burning alive unarmed "brown people. Then double whammy with even this clown of a shithead potus calling us "losers", "suckers". Even his niece says he has used detrimental terms in talking about us "brown people". Love and respect? From america? Never for brown people in my lifetime. My fathers lifetime. My grandfathers lifetime. My great grandfathers lifetime. All who have served in the military for a nation that never appreciated or respected that military duty or sacrifice in some cases of any of us "brown people".

(7,670 posts)did you? You do realize the massive logical flaw in that argument, right?
As far as the second comment. I'm on my phone and it doesn't auto capitalize america. I would've capitalized it as a matter of habit typing on a keyboard but I rely on autocorrect when typing on the phone.

(6,477 posts)Despicable as usual.
Unions are in solidarity with other workers and the working class. Police unions, and especially FOPs, are the bosses men, strikebreakers and heavies for the plutocrats. Calling them unions is a disgrace. They are the hired thugs of the bosses, period.

(16,763 posts)who are trained to kill. That is where it got worse around 2000 under W. Military armament given to police and returning vets who know how to kill. And the racism which has always been there, the crappy pay, the lack of any training about basic human awareness .... Between that and our for-profit incarceration system, I'm not sure how any of this changes without a ton of concerted work and making it a priority in U.S. law enforcement. I do know it is revolting as hell and defines us to the world.

(129,446 posts)is that the toddler is hearing-impaired and wears a hearing aid (which had not been in his ear at the time as it was in his mother's pocketbook), and that device got lost in the police riot on that SUV when the mother was separated from her 16-year old nephew and her child and her pocketbook when she was beaten. The child was also injured in police melee from the smashing of the windows, and had bruises and and a welt on his head as a result.
