Prosecutors In Brazil File Embezzlement Charges Against Jair Bolsonaro's Son

Source: The Guardian

Jair Bolsonaro's eldest son has been formally accused of embezzlement, money laundering, misappropriation of funds and directing a "criminal organisation" as sleaze allegations continue to swirl around the family of Brazil's far-right president.

Prosecutors in Rio de Janeiro announced late on Tuesday that they had filed the charges against Flvio Bolsonaro, 39, a senator whose affairs have been under the spotlight since the eve of his father's January 2019 inauguration.

The accusations, which Flvio Bolsonaro has previously called part of a political plot against his father, revolve around suspicions the president's son engaged in a widespread but criminal practice in Brazilian politics known as the "rachadinha" when he was a Rio congressman from 2004 to 2018. Under the scheme, which translates roughly as the "salary split", corrupt politicians siphon off a chunk of their employees' publicly funded wages for personal gain.

Charges were also filed against 16 others including Fabrcio Queiroz, a former police officer and longtime friend of Brazil's president who had worked with Bolsonaro's son and has well-documented ties to Rio's underworld. Queiroz is under house arrest after being detained in June on the property of a lawyer who has represented Jair and Flvio Bolsonaro...

The destruction he has done to the earth already cannot be repaired within our lifetimes.

Every aspect of everyone's life is harmed already.

He should NOT have the ability to have, through his corruption, and maliciousness, killed vital elements of this earth and its future.

Allowing so much power to be snatched up by a person or a political or economic group MUST be examined and changed as soon as possible, things are far past leaving our fate up for grabs. Personal benefit and greed must be removed from leadership positions.

We have been shown why anything short of this will kill everything.

What he has done, with his family, already, should be researched by anyone of conscience. Find out what happened to the champion of the poor:

Bolsonaro attacks 'putrid' media over Marielle Franco murder claims

Brazilian president seethes after investigation alleges suspects met at his compound before politician’s murder
Tom Phillips Latin America correspondent
Wed 30 Oct 2019 10.22 EDT

Brazil’s far-right president has launched a seething pre-dawn assault on the “putrid” and “immoral” media after a report by the country’s top broadcaster embroiled Jair Bolsonaro in investigations into the most notorious political assassination in its recent history.

. . .

Bolsonaro’s eruption came in response to a politically explosive investigative report by Jornal Nacional, Brazil’s answer to the Nine O’Clock News, on Tuesday night.

The report alleged the suspected killers of Marielle Franco – the leftist politician who was gunned down in March 2018 – had met at Bolsonaro’s seaside compound in Rio de Janeiro in the hours before her murder.

One of those men, Élcio Queiroz, reportedly gained entry to the compound at about 5.10pm by telling a security guard he was visiting Bolsonaro, the owner of house No 58.

Bolsonaro was, in fact, hundreds of miles away in Brasília on that day. But an unidentified person at his house – who the security guard identified as “Jair” – reportedly authorized Queiroz’s entry.

Instead of heading to Bolsonaro’s property, Queiroz reportedly went to another residence – No 66 – the home of Ronnie Lessa, a special forces police officer allegedly turned contract killer currently being held on suspicion of Franco’s murder.

Citing anonymous sources, Jornal Nacional claimed that minutes after Queiroz’s arrival, he and Lessa left the compound in the latter’s car and then changed vehicles nearby, before, it is alleged, proceeding to central Rio where Franco was later killed.

Marielle Franco

Marielle Franco, the killer police who killed the activist: one is a neighbor of Bolsonaro. "Now the Principals"
March 13, 2019

It is no coincidence that among the slogans of the activists who participated in the struggle to sensitize the institutions to initiate credible investigations to solve the murder of Marielle Franco the most widely used phrase from the beginning was. "Who wanted the murder of Marielle?" . I Principals . The fact that mercenaries were paid for the dirty work had been materially killed by the City Council of 19459004 in Rio de Janeiro paramilitary militiamen . Mercenaries paid no money. For this reason, the news of the arrests of the two alleged murderers, the former police officers Ronnie Lessa and Elcio Vieira de Queiroz more than just satisfaction, breathed new life into the struggle for truth for a year since Marielle Franco and her driver Anderson Gomes were killed on March 1

It's very hard to keep stringing enough people along, when the results are that bad.

Here's hoping Biden can manage what Fernández managed in Argentina (and what a full platter of problems he's had since then - but he's been managing with those too).

I'm confident Biden already has.
