House GOP removes Detroit Democrat from committees, citing 'threats' in her Facebook video

Source: Detroit Free Press

Republican leaders of the Michigan House of Representatives have removed Rep. Cynthia Johnson, D-Detroit, from her committee assignments in response to comments she made in a video she posted Tuesday on Facebook.

House Speaker Lee Chatfield, R-Levering, and Speaker-elect Jason Wentworth, R-Clare, issued a joint news release Wednesday stating Johnson made threats in the video.

At the end of a roughly three-minute video posted Tuesday evening to Facebook, Johnson referenced law enforcement tracking down someone who made a threat against her before issuing what she called a warning.

"So, this is just a warning to you Trumpers. Be careful. Walk lightly. We ain’t playing with you. Enough of the shenanigans. Enough is enough," Johnson states in the video.

The current US president makes worse "threats" than that on a daily basis. So does Tucker Carlson. muriel_volestrangler Dec 2020 #15

I was SHOCKED to find out Detroit was more racist than VA by a lot!

When I implied such in a Detroit newspaper, not freep, my comment was banned.

Not sure how freep would consider my comment.

I thought Detroit would be so much better. Wrong.
The migration of southerners for automotive jobs
also brought the Klan.

The sad part is they are our neighbors and fellow citizens. That makes me so sad. On the other hand, I won't be so thrown by their racism and hatred again like I have been this year. I knew it was there just not the extent and the level of anger and fear and hatred. I'm sad, but much more clear eyed than I was a few months ago.

He's like a school bully who happens to also be charismatic. More and more people will buy into the bullshit, at first just to be seen with the popular people, but after a while they really start to believe it. Sadly, I believe that tRump has set back race relations decades.

I believe that these people have believed this crap at least on an unconscious level. Now it's out in the open for all to see and respond to. My hope is this may speed up the resolution of race relations. No , I don't think it will end racism, but we will finally be able to talk about it openly and honestly. That is hope.

Saying "we're not gonna take it any more" is not a threat.
