President Joe Biden is held in high regard by most Americans, according to a new ABC News/Ipsos poll released Sunday, as he takes the reins of a divided country in the midst of a once-in-a-century pandemic and economic crisis.
In his first week in the Oval Office, Biden yielded high approval ratings for his response to the coronavirus (69%) and confidence in his ability to unify the country (57%). The new poll was conducted by Ipsos in partnership with ABC News using Ipsos' Knowledge Panel.
Biden's early honeymoon period is a sharp departure from the underwhelming initial response former President Donald Trump received four years ago.
In a recent ABC News/Washington Post poll, Biden's score for handling the transition landed at 67%, nearly 30 points higher than his predecessor just before his inauguration.

(43,146 posts)Solve the pandemic, and keep pumping money into people's accounts. Once the pandemic recedes and people go back to work, the Fed must dry up the money flow or we will have inflation (we're having it already). Biden inherits a mess but we're an underemployed techologically-based economy, and he can do a lot with that.

(128,905 posts)The man was sworn in at 11:50 am EST on January 20, 2021, "officially" taking over at 12:01 pm EST that same day - literally 4 days ago. And they act like he has been in there for months.
This is why the media lose all credibility.

(128,905 posts)I have managed to catch Biden's news conferences where he signed multiple EOs in each appearance, and described other expected executive actions. So there's no dearth of info for them to go through and blab about. But then I suppose they were so used to crayon-scribble-on-paper EOs, gleefully held up as show and tell, I guess they forgot that they can now actually "read" one and find substance there that never existed during the previous administration.

(23,339 posts)... on how quickly he can pull vaccine production out of the ditch.
Or we'll be looking at a million dead by Labor Day.
He just has to keep the pressure on that.

(128,905 posts)because as much as I hear people referencing "other vaccines" (e.g., J&J and AstraZeneca) -I think one is supposed to apply for an EUA some time in March and the other some time in April if their Phase III trials go well enough for the U.S. regulators (apparently AstraZeneca is already approved and being used in the UK and other parts of Europe).
I am glad to see the DPA invoked to get some more of those "low volume" syringes out there because Pfizer already dissed the U.S. about how they were contracted for the vaccine, where they ship "by dose", and the vials supposedly yield "6" despite labeling as either "5" or "up to 6". That right there can cause confusion and can screw up the numbers by generating a discrepancy about how much vaccine has actually been shipped to states if all parties are not aware of that. I.e., the normal "excess" that is provided in standard vaccine vials is usually discarded but gets added to allow for a guarantee of being able to get a full volumetric aliquot of a "dose" with each extraction).

(48,975 posts)how I got a link to an ABC News video page copied in there by accident, but I've corrected the OP to the right ABC News page now.
Just editing to mention I just remembered I'd clicked on more than one video on the page that had been playing at the same time, trying to shut them off, and I might've ended up switching to that video page then before I copied the link.

(11,085 posts)Later on, the opposition will form up to stall, delay and even roll back your agenda. They will especially say, "We can't afford anything! Look at the deficits! Look at the national debt!" Not that they cared about those AT ALL for the last four years.
