Interior reverses last-minute Trump grazing permits for men who inspired Bundy standoff

Source: The Hill

The Department of the Interior is reversing a last-minute decision made under the Trump administration to grant grazing permits for two men pardoned by President Trump.

A permit given by former Interior Secretary David Bernhardt on the administration's last full day in office would allow Hammond Ranches to graze on lands in southeast Oregon. The ranch is operated by father-son duo Dwight and Steven Hammond, who were convicted of setting fire to public lands in 2012.

The Bureau of Land Management subsequently revoked their grazing privileges in 2014 — a move that caught the eye of Ammon Bundy, escalating to a 2016 takeover of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Oregon.

The Biden administration is now reconsidering the January permit issued under the Trump administration, arguing the prior administration didn’t follow proper protocol in issuing it.

who was the instigator of the first standoff -- he was letting his cattle graze on public lands for years without penalty.

WTF?

It is disturbing how small the punishment has been for these punks.

This is what leads to people to think treasonous assaults' on our capital are ok.
Drop the hammer.

For too long. Their defense had been that they had been allowed to let their cattle graze on government property for decades and they're not going to stop now. My thoughts are that they owe the government a lot of back rent. How typical that Trump allowed the bullies to continue getting a free handout and whine about the small guy.

The King of America, Emperor of the Western Hemisphere and pending Master of the Universe had no need or use for "proper protocol!" Proper protocol was whatever he said it was.

The arsonists in Oregon didn't instantly come to mind.

So many MF45 outrages, it's hard to keep track of them all.

Biden Officials Block Public Grazing Permits For Arsonist Ranchers Pardoned By Trump

The permit would have allowed the ranchers’ livestock to use public land for 10 years.

The Biden administration’s Bureau of Land Management has rescinded a new permit for grazing on public lands granted to two Oregon arsonist ranchers pardoned by Donald Trump.

The arson convictions of Dwight Hammond and his son Steven for torching public lands was at the center of an armed takeover in 2016 of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Oregon, which led to a 41-day armed standoff with federal authorities. The assault was led by militant rancher brothers Ryan and Ammon Bundy.

Despite the record of violence, Trump Interior Secretary David Bernhardt granted the Hammonds a new grazing permit on Trump’s last day in office. The permit would have allowed the ranchers’ livestock to use public land for 10 years.....................................
