We can do this': Biden unveils pro-vaccine TV ads, network of grass-roots leaders to push shots
Source: Washington Post
The We Can Do This campaign will air across cable and broadcast stations nationwide and include targeted multimillion-dollar ad buys for Black and Spanish-language media.
In a virtual kickoff event Thursday morning, Vice President Harris and Surgeon General Vivek H. Murthy introduced a grass-roots network of local leaders and prominent figures billed as the Covid-19 Community Corps, who are set to encourage shots, drawing on research that trusted voices are best able to win over vaccine-hesitant Americans.

(15,224 posts)Some people have a real struggle with this. Im one of them.
Trying to force people to feel weak because they have a hard time facing a particular trigger is not the answer. Im sorry if you dont understand this type of fear, and Im glad you dont experience it. But calling it pathetic really shows a lack of understanding. Encouraging is one thing; shaming something entirely another.
We are all different.

(63,912 posts)it. So I'm with you but believe me when I say the Pfizer shot was nothing. I can't speak for any other types of Covid vaccine. I didn't even have a sore arm. In my long life, I have never had a shot like this.
I can only tell you my experience so YMMV. It was the easiest shot I ever had in my long life.
I hope this helps you.

(15,224 posts)But the fear that many of us have, myself at least, goes way deeper than just the needle prick. Ive had nightmares over the thought of having to get the shot. Ive fainted in the past. Its difficult, embarrassing, and cannot be controlled.
And if a booster is required, Ill be living in terror during that timeframe. It is NOT a rational thing, of course, but is a phobia. Its like its hanging over my head every second. Hearing about it all the time in the news doesnt help either although I certainly understand that its important that it be discussed.
Its hard for those who dont experience it to understand because there is no logic to it. Perhaps like the irrational fear some have of clowns, etc.
Science will one day catch up. There are several projects in the works for vaccine delivery via micro needle patches, and Ill be singing and dancing if that ever becomes a reality. One doctor at the University of Pittsburgh decided to work on the project after witnessing his childrens stress over getting vaccinations.

(63,912 posts)I have an MRI coming up and I'm contemplating taking my Elavil pill (which I usually take at bedtime and need for nerve pain) because I don't know how I will react to that sense of enclosure.

(26,117 posts)Some people take xanax, though. I get the prescription from the doctor prescribing the MRI, because I'm claustrophobic, but it also keeps my BP down, too.

Also, there's the issue of driving...someone who drove themselves cannot take Valium or Xanax and drive themselves home.
