Illinois Rep. Adam Kinzinger has become the first Republican to publicly demand the resignation of Matt Gaetz — and he cites newly reported money links between his embattled fellow congressman and a sex trafficking-accused pal.

“Matt Gaetz needs to resign,” Kinzinger, (R-Ill.), tweeted Thursday night.

The tweet links to a Daily Beast story that details $900 in cash transfers made on a single night in May, 2018 between Gaetz and the Florida congressman’s friend, Joel Greenberg.

The former Seminole County tax collector is currently indicted on 33 counts, including sex trafficking charges involving a 17-year-old girl.

His district, the 16th, may go out of existence when we are redistricted. If not, he is probably looking to run for higher office.
