And your point about him just being released sounds like a good lawsuit against the city Failure to protect the public by releasing an obviously dangerous person

Unless there is a threat to the public. There are studies that show releasing them perpetuates racism. The accused are supposed to be innocent until proven guilty, and the mugshots live on the internet for those aquitted.

but I imagine once they are in the custody of law enforcement the danger to the general public goes down drastically.

And that goes to why SFPD has that policy. He might have been innocent, and released without charges.

Also, those posts are from anonymous law enforcement. We know that law enforcement has a bad history with PoC (assuming the pic in post 10 is him), so I am not certain they are the right folks to take anonymous info from.

"According to a law enforcement source, Thompson has been arrested more than two dozen times in the last 20 years. He was placed under a psychiatric hold at least once. In 2019, he was arrested for battery.

KPIX 5 has learned that in 2017, he was arrested for stabbing a person at this homeless shelter on 5th and Bryant Streets with a pair of scissors. Police say it was another unprovoked attack."

He is clearly a habitual criminal. Whomever in the legal system that let him out to terrorize more people needs to be held accountable.
