6. He's been indicted and is awaiting trial. I think this current flare-up

was catalyzed by Netanyahu intentionally, to distract from his problems and to make it impossible for his opposition to coalesce into a governing coalition. His window of opportunity was shrinking, and he's seized the moment, in my cynical view.

It makes the Hamas leaders look like fools. If Hamas wanted to get rid of Bibi they should have kept their powder dry for the time being. This flare up of violence is just what Bibi needs to stay in power.
